  • Son of Sam David Berkowitz Speaks out on Maury Terry
A Tribute to Maury Terry: Friend and Journalist

    8/10/2021

Maury Terry was an independent investigative journalist with whom I had become friends...
He first reached out to me shortly after my arrest in 1977. Although we had our ups and downs, our friendship continued until he passed away in 2015.

Maury was a controversial person who was loved by those who knew him and was criticized and denounced by those who did not. His devotion to the infamous Son of Sam case and his outspoken views about it caused him to go against the tide.

To me, however, Maury was a dear friend. He and I had our disagreements, but many laughs as well. Simply put, Maury Terry was a brilliant investigative journalist. In his role as such he would doggedly and faithfully follow every lead. He would leave no stone unturned.

This was quite an accomplishment for a man who had to go it alone. He was not working for a media company who could compensate him for his services with a paycheck. Nor was Maury a member of a law enforcement agency. Had he been, he would've had endless resources at his disposal to assist with his investigation.

Armed with little more than a notebook and pen, he accomplished much. With the meager resources that were available, and the push-back he received from his adversaries, he still pressed on. He refused to be intimidated, nor would he settle for doing a superficial job.

In the field of law enforcement, for example, every detective will tell you that in many a major case in which the perpetrator is notimmediately known, he and his colleagues would spend days, weeks, and even years pursuing leads. Many times, as they would honestly admit, those leads go nowhere. They will turn out to be dead ends. Yet they would continue with their investigation carrying it as far as they possibly can.

So I would ask, were they wasting their time running down and pursuing all those leads? Of course not. That's a part of their job. In some cases, there are hundreds of leads that have to be followed up on. Yet in spite of their best efforts the trail may grow cold.

As for Maury, his attitude was the same. He was a dedicated professional. For him, working alone, every lead had to be pursued. This also meant going down dead ends. Some call them "rabbit holes." But every police detective will tell you that in his career he probably went down hundreds of them. Chasing down any and all leads comes with the territory.

For Maury, his work was a labor of love and concern. Other investigative journalists may have long since given up. But not Maury Terry. He stayed true and he stayed on course. Without good resources and support, he continued onward. This is most commendable.

Despite critics and naysayers, Maury showed his strength. His efforts deserve respect. He was a true professional who was worthy of the title, "Investigative Reporter."

I miss my friend. He will always remain in my heart. Maury was a good man.

  • Footprints of Courage ( Smiley Face Murders )
If you were a vibrant, accomplished college senior who mysteriously disappeared, would your family trust that the police would launch a full-scale investigation? On November 1, 2002, Steve, Jan, and Sara Jenkins discovered that their son and brother, Chris, had not been seen since the previous night. They also learned that the Minneapolis police would not initiate a search until seventy-two hours had passed because Chris was over eighteen years old.

With exceptional candor and shocking detail, Chris's mother Jan wrote Footprints of Courage - the first look inside the tragic and untold saga of the Chris Jenkins murder investigation undertaken by the family who loved him. Chris's parents and sister took extraordinary measures to force the truth into the light, including securing the assistance of global leaders in water rescue and recovery, appearing dozens of times on local and national newscasts describing how Chris may have died, even analyzing autopsy and recovery photos for clues - the list of steps they were forced to take on their own initiative is endless.

Chris's disappearance captivated a city, and then a nation, when the public learned that dozens of young men in the preceding twelve years had met a similar fate. While pushing to unravel the mystery of his murder, Chris's courageous family paved the way for federal involvement in the possible serial homicides of more than seventy victims.

Never leaving one of their own behind may not have been the easy path; but for Steve, Jan, and Sara, it was the only path. The Jenkinses passionately hope that Chris's legacy and their struggle for justice will inspire others to trust their instincts and stand up for truth.

  • Raw Deal: The Untold Story Of NYPD's "Cannibal Cop"
RAW DEAL is the untold story of former New York City police officer Gil Valle, who in 2012 became known throughout the world as "The Cannibal Cop." It is part the controversial saga of a man who was imprisoned for "thought crimes," and a look into a world of dark sexuality and violence that most readers don't know exists, except maybe in their nightmares.

After Valle's arrest, media coverage exploded in a frenzy of lurid tabloid headlines and stories about the cop charged with planning to kidnap, torture, rape ...and eat ... women, including his own wife. But here's the fascinating part; there was no such plan in reality. Valle was simply engaging in his own private fantasies, albeit fantasies that are abhorrent and grotesque, and for that he was thrown into prison.

Valle faced life in prison for his charges, and served 21 months for nothing more than having online chats about his fantasies. He was finally exonerated of all charges.

RAW DEAL raises the question of when does thought become a crime? A question that goes beyond his perverse sexuality to answers society must deal with in order to meet the challenge of terrorism. It will challenge the reader's beliefs about free speech, the right to privacy, and government's role in watching over us.

WARNING: This book contains graphic fantasy material of a sexual and violent nature. It is intended for Mature Audiences.

  • Ray Blehar: Sandusky, Second Mile & Penn State COVERUPS!!!!
Ray Blehar Second Mile Sandusky Scandal
"Jerry" Sandusky (born January 26, 1944) is a convicted serial child molester and retired American football coach. Sandusky served as an assistant coach for his entire career, mostly at Pennsylvania State University under Joe Paterno (from 1969 to 1999). He received Assistant Coach of the Year awards in 1986 and 1999.[Sandusky authored several books related to his football coaching experiences.

In 1977, Sandusky founded The Second Mile, a non-profit charity serving Pennsylvania underprivileged and at-risk youth. After Sandusky retired as assistant coach at Penn State, he continued working with The Second Mile at Penn State, maintaining an office at Penn State until 2011.

In 2011, following a two-year grand jury investigation, Sandusky was arrested and charged with 52 counts of sexual abuse of young boys over a 15-year period from 1994 to 2009. He met his molestation victims through The Second Mile; they were participating in the organization. Several of them testified against Sandusky in his sexual abuse trial. Four of the charges were subsequently dropped. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of the 48 remaining charges. Sandusky was sentenced on October 9, 2012 to 30 to 60 years in prison—at his age, effectively a life sentence. On October 18, 2012, Sandusky's lawyers appealed his conviction in Centre County Court in Pennsylvania. They claim that they did not have enough time to prepare for their client's case. On October 31, 2012, Sandusky was moved to Pennsylvania's SCI Greene "supermax" prison to serve his sentence. On January 30, 2013, Pennsylvania Judge John Cleland denied Sandusky's request for a new trial.
