The Organic View

There has been a great deal of information made available about neonicotinoids to the public. However, there is also a lot of confusion because of the efforts by industry to promote conflicting information about the true impact of neonicotinoids. This interview addresses many of these issues. Due to popular demand, we are airing this encore segment to address these very issues.

In this special series called The Neonicotinoid View, host June Stoyer talks to Dutch Toxicologist Dr. Henk Tennekes and bee advocate, Tom Theobald to review some of the common beliefs as stated in a previous discussion by some bee experts regarding the impact of neonicotinoids.

We hear all the time about weight gain, weight loss, how Americans are the heaviest we’ve ever been, and myriad plans for remedying our egregious fatness. And yet…what if a lot of what we’re told and what we believe simply isn’t true? Award-winning writer Harriet Brown set out to explore our relentless obsession with weight and thinness—with surprising results.  In Body of Truth, Brown tackles the myths and realities of the “obesity epidemic,” exposing the biggest lies driving the rhetoric of obesity. With provocative prose and razor-sharp wit, she examines our tendency to find weight scapegoats (sugar and wheat are the current favorites), gives historical and contemporary context for what it means to be “fat” (making a strong case that it’s not a dirty word), and offers ways for all of us to think about weight and health with more nuance, accuracy, and respect. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host June Stoyer talks to Harriet Brown author of the best-selling book, Body of Truth, How Science, History, and Culture Drive Our Obsession with Weight--and What We Can Do About It.
