In my first #bookchat podcast episode, I was very lucky to sit down (virtually) with Giles Lury and Katy Mousinho, authors of the book Wonder Women: Inspiring Stories and Insightful Interviews with Women in Marketing.

I read the book last month as part of my Women's Month inspired reading and loved it. As a marketer myself only at the beginning of her career, it was great to read about so many mavericks in the industry that have gone before me and those who are making waves today. 

The book details interviews with women like Edwina Dunn, creator of the Tesco Clubcard, and Brownie Wise who transformed the Tupperware brand.

This week I was very lucky to be in conversation with influencer marketing expert, Scott Guthrie. Scott has been a mentor-of-sorts for myself over the past number of years and a fountain of knowledge and advice when it comes to influencer marketing. 

I was very excited to get Scott on the podcast and to pick his brains and ask for his opinions on topics such as ads on social media, influencer houses, young people aspiring to be social media stars, the term 'influencer' and how the media portray influencers and a host of other influencer topics.

In this week's episode I sat down to chat to Emma Haughey, founder of the Flip the Script NI Instagram page. Emma was very open in our conversation about her own mental health journey, things she has struggled with in the past and gives advice and tips on how she copes and what helps her to overcome certain emotions. 

We also discussed social media and the effect that this can have on our mental health, along with the pandemic and lockdown. We talked about our favourite influencers that help create discussion around mental health and also what it's like to have a mental health condition in Northern Ireland.

This week I had the pleasure of chatting to two Irish content creators residing in Bali, Indonesia. Husband and wife Siobhan and Joe O'Dea who may be better known as A Girl Who Blooms and A Life I Imagined, have a combined Instagram following of 204,000, and travel across the world taking their followers with them.

In this episode we discussed what it's like to be full-time content creators, how the pandemic has affected their work as travel content creators and whether Bali is a forever home for them. 

We also discussed the influencer pay gap, press trips and the real side of Bali that most of us don't see.
