Cliff Webb: Birds circling, shrimp poppin, and pelicans everywhere, schools of pencils and 18-21's, flounder aren't taking off like they are up north, water is off-color in Baffin right now, only about a foot of clarity, dead slow like a milk pond, a big buck on the sea shore, deer camp stories and the pasture and holy lands, north west south east, shine your spotlight up in the air and we'll find out.

 

Will Kirkpatrick: We've had a great week, weather has been good, had a nice size buck run across our driveway, tough time to decide what you want to do, the lake is super clear, haven't had any run off, one day we'll turn up and they'll blow up on top waters, 17 boats in five fingers one day.

 

Harry Detane: A few inches below normal pool, the water in the creek is watermelon creek, traffic on the lake is very slow, everyone is off deer hunting.

Glenn Hammond: Went out for a boat ride, seeing what we could do, helping another boater with his motor, caught nice trout in drum bay, nothing through the ignition, had a super strong outgoing tide and a strong south east wind, trolling that far, all you gotta do is point, helping one guy out then mine goes down, get ready November 30th they will be dredging the San Luis pass boat ramp!

 

Tommy Alexander: How thigs have been or not been cooperating down in Matagorda, will the wind shift have much of an effect, and east vs west bay.

 

Brian Barrera: Will be doing some snook and tarpon fishing this morning on light tackle, didn't see anything worth shooting except two nice 10 pointers, but they are at least a year away from being ready, caught a pond personal best catching a 6 pound bass at the deer lease, cutting up your clothes in South Texas it's so hot, flashed by a huge barge then parks on his school of fish, ready for the water to get a little bit cooler for this to get wild!

John Littleton: Folks are catching more fish right around the marina, a good mixed bag of fish and even crappie, black with a cartruce tail on a 16th oz head, using that ZOOM french fry on a shaky head, there are some giants in Sheldon Reservoir, catching 3-5 pounders on rattle traps, white bass are starting to move up north, everybody could use some holiday cash!

 

Steve Hillman: Happy 50th Birthday Steve! scraping together pretty decent days of fishing, all these new people popping up, who's calling my burner phone, put it on the trailer and go home, every guides dream party, the highest barometric pressure all year, pencil poppin mission, are there any living clams in the bay, Jay Watkins is a wealth of technical knowledge, bring me a bottle of Dom Perignon!

James Plagg: Smoke was all the way to my house yesterday, the smoke passed me up blowing 30 knots, checking one thing, that wind hit, waves breaking over the hard top with Cameron yesterday, caught about a hundred baby trout on Monday, root canal fishing, needing to find new places to fish or else were hurting, not enough places to go, you mess up I'm gonna catch four and it will take all day, water is really high, it was about to take my boat away.

 

Sharky Marquez: Getting fired up for today out on the water, how the jetties have been lately, wind picking up and really humming!

 

Kirk Stansel: Just got into the duck blind, hunting has been really good, limits all around, quite a few grey ducks, but an overall mixture of species, big time grey duck flocks, been making us sound good with the duck call, fishing hasn't been too good in the afternoon, but the morning bite is good, the wind is up on the lake in the afternoon.

Richard Tatsch: Hybrids are being hard headed right now, catfish are not strictly bottom feeders, using your depth finder to locate brush piles, nondescript flats, tracking bass, they know where their home is, how to approach fish and not spook them when not having a trolling motor.

 

Charlie Paradowksi: Not a whole lot of fish on the cleaning table yesterday, the closing of rollover pass, latest conditions, not seeing the slicks like we used to, especially when wade fishing, mullet populations are way down than before, everyone knows the good spots, no secrets anymore, you can tell where all the fish are, just take a number, it's a rotten job but somebody's gotta do it.

Bill Watkins: Talking bankers hours, crowded here everyday, a lot of pressure everyday, deer season hasn't slowed fishing down at all, a good sand trout have a great distinct flavor, better trout up north, rivers are a bit more salty, running from one to another, keep your tanks full, should have a fair years next year for trout.

 

Richard Tatsch: I need a storage bin for my lures and soft plastics, jig heads breaking off not nearly as much as others in brush piles, It'd take 6 months to organize my tackle, how have the pvc contraptions worked out, catching crappie, hybrids and largemouth on it, what TPW has done to help the habitat. 

 

Charlie Paradowski: Nothing new over here, fish are scattered all over kingdom come, struggling to catch fish during the daytime at the river due to all the night feeding, good size sand trout on east bay, yet to see any gulf trout until water temperatures are in the 60's, the gulf trout meat is much firmer than sand trout, red fish are still being caught, the best method is cut mullet, just waiting on some colder weather, shrimpers aren't having any problems right now.

Mike Jeffcoat: Trout are biting good, tired of the North East wind beating up the ecosystem, winds changing around have a big effect, making a few meat hauls right now!

 

Michael Marquez: Going to go catch some fish today, looks like a nice day, a bit of a minor front coming in but it depends on the wind conditions, 3/4 redfish 1/4 flounder, getting harder to catch, hanging around the rocks lately, got on some nice slot reds on the inside of the south jetty, and also some more on the outside of the north jetty as well, caught two nice size pompano yesterday too! Every single day is so different out here, that is a great eating fish, hopefully will be back into some flounder action soon!

 

James Plaag: What's been going on with the golf game, Cameron is out in the deep blue gulf, working at the shipyard, how the trout have been responding lately, latest on the cold front hopefully coming soon.

Cliff Webb: Troll on out and catch em on top waters, more fishable spots with less trash in the bay system, takes a strong west wind to blow the old water out, getting all kinds of ducks down here but they're not going into the slews, might make the duck hunting a little tougher until the birds get thicker down here, speckle bellies and sandhill cranes, fish hit  soft plastics so hard it sucks sand out the gills, folks pot licking on my soft plastics, there are always a few monster gar floating around the bay system, February 1997...10 and 10.25, 10.5 on a top water within 2 weeks.

 

Blaine Friermood: Traveling North on 59 going home this morning, tired of fog, 90 degree afternoons and rattlesnakes, early mornings are the only time to see deer due to the cooler temperatures, shooting right over that deer, the one I gave a haircut, I wouldn't give him a plugged nickel for these conditions, we didn't know the deer was here, a staredown between the deer and the blind.

Glenn Hammond: Zero miles per hour if my spoons are holding, getting your first 8 point, tides have been bulled up, the east in the wind is likely what has kept the water high, live shrimp has picked up in the area, all of the boat ramps are good except the one on christmas bay where it's a bit tight, drawers and drawers of tackle.

 

Tommy Alexander: Water temperatures have been in the upper 70's this week with it about 78 in the late afternoon, never leave home without a worm, love throwing the lele in the colder months, Bink catching an 8 pounder, lil jon and down south have been the top two lures, fish are being caught, hoping for a strong cold front to get the water temps down.

 

Brian Barrera: Up at the deer lease today, it's a little warm so the animals aren't moving until the last hour of the day, catching some good size bass in the lake, got a little pond topper, gotta watch out for the snakes out here, found a good school of tarpon this week and tore them up, got a couple look down fish, getting a ship channel slam, throwing the 3-4 inch DOA shrimp with a jig head, the moon jellyfish have been a tiny problem, so live shrimp are a wee bit scarce at the moment.

John Littleton: Hunting will wear you out, getting a deer off the bat, deer with masks, love catching fish on the deer lease pond, a couple scrubby 4 points, in that german chocolate cake, the big one that got away, throw it out there and wind it in method.

 

Chris Croker: Almost awake this morning, coming off a good quail season, has a great hunting trip for sale gun or bow for two people, south texas deer have exploded this year, antler size and body size are just off the charts this year, glad it's not flooded like years past.

Steve Hillman: Doing wonderful, more good days than bad days, working some birds, best bite on Friday was between ten to noon, good sand trout mixed in with the reds, got to fish with a high school buddy, 24 and 3/4in red weighing 8 pounds, feast or famine days, and a great story!
