The Outer Reels

This week we take a look at Sal Bass' only feature as a director: Phase IV. Bass is an artistic genius, and this is not the movie you might think it is from the poster. Also, Sam's still mad about Time After Time.

Jason was happy to revisit this classic from 1979, but Sam wasn't having it. As tends to happen, we digress a lot, but Sam encouraged it this time, even though he loves his San Francisco movies. Also, you won't believe who Sam's accountant is!

This is a meditation on regaining your faith..? Sam liked it more than Jason who saw the "twist" from the start.

We had fun with this fast-paced directorial debut from Michael Crichton: 1972's made-for-TV "Pursuit". Look for a blink-and-you'll miss him cameo from pre-famous Martin Sheen!

For the last movie in our season of selections from Action Smacked, we watched Roller Blade from 1986. It's a trip, and we still don't really know what happened.

If you can make it to the end of this Action Smacked pick, you might actually enjoy this family affair. Bonus old phone story time from Sam, and the usual gushing about Tango and Cash

There's multiple versions (and titles!) of this movie and all seem to be a mess, but this guy has made a movie and we haven't, so it's got that going for it! Buckle up, this is a long one.

This movie is WILD. It's not a good movie, but we still had some fun with this boxing Blaxploitation film from '82.

Another fun pic from Action Smacked, though Jason enjoyed this more than Sam did (but Jason is also a pervert).

Another pick from Action Smacked, but with a twist: Jason already owned this on DVD. This movie is terrible in the most wonderful ways but we also talk a lot about Robocop because how can you NOT?
