Today we are talking all about our daily life here in Panama. We thought it might be interesting for you to get a peak into what our daily life looks like with kids, cooking, farm stuff, building a house, relaxing, having a social life, and enjoying our slower lifestyle here in Panama.

So much of our life is spent outside, whether that is hanging laundry, reading books, swimming, cooking, relaxing, farm/dome stuff, walking/biking, beach fun, or just playing. We love our outdoor lifestyle, but also love our afternoons relaxing in the AC for a bit - slowing down and cooling down.

There are a lot of similarities between our daily rhythm here and in the USA, because of kids and trying to keep a consistent schedule. We hope you enjoy this episode. As always, thanks for tuning in!

To finish up our little three-part "reflection series," today we discuss what we have learned since moving to Panama 9 months ago. Things like how even though we live close to the beach - we still get excited every time we're there and it never gets boring; people take the time to really talk to you here; we miss cold weather; how tiny of a living space is do-able for us; enjoying life in a small, small town, and a few more. We, as always, try to intermix humor and learning experiences into our sharing.

In today's episode, we reflect on what we miss from our home country and hometown, after relocating to Panama. What we've really learned after moving to Panama is how much we don't need all that convenience. Most of it was fun to have and enjoyable and brought value to our life, but it wasn't vital for our happiness and of course we knew that, but living here has proved that!

Living near the beach was one of the top reasons we decided to move to Panama. We wanted to have our farm but also be within a short drive from the beach - for surfing, playing, and all the beach fun. We are so blessed to have found our dream farm, that we're now building on, near one of the best & most gorgeous beaches in all of the country of Panama - Playa Las Lajas, Chiriqui.

We start the episode by discussing the coast lines here in Panama, the Pacific and Caribbean sides, types of beaches here, and what kind of services you can find at beaches here. Then we share our top 3 favorite beaches that we've been to here in Panama, and finish it off with some beaches that we still want to visit!

We are so excited to be back with Season 2 of The PanaFamilia Podcast! Eduardo and I (Nicole) start this second season off with an episode all about our dome home progress.

Today is our final episode for Season One! We will be back in March 2024 with more episodes.

Today we're talking all about las vacas! We purchased ten pregnant Gyrlando heifers back in October and they have been living at our farm and enjoying all the lush grass. We talk about why we picked these cows and this breed. We share a bit about how we found them and what it felt like when they arrived at our finca.

We then spend time discussing our plan for the cows; genetics; growing our herd, etc; and most importantly how we'll use them to feed us and all our other future farm animals. They will be the top of the food chain, we'll pick a few to be our family milk cows.

Today we have another longer episode (hopefully the last long one for a while)! the FINAL part 3 of the Panama protest series.

The Panama protests and roadblocks are over! The Panamanian people got what they asked for and we can all travel freely and get everything we need now.

We start out with a slight recap of why and when the protests started and how it lasted for 41 days (October 22, 2023-December 2, 2023). We share how it ended with the Supreme Court finding the mining contract unconstitutional and how the mine will cease operations. This is what the protestors wanted.

We discuss our uncertainty of whether or not the roadblocks would actually open. They finally did and have been open since! We touch a bit on the fallout from these roadblocks on the economy, agriculture, tourism, and more.

We then share what we learned during this challenging time. We learned a lot about the kindness and patience of the people here and found new strength within ourselves.

We are still 100% happy that we moved our life here and are excited to be able to get back to work on all our projects now!

This Friday's episode we're talking about designing our new home to be built on our farm here in Panama - which will be an aircrete dome home. We talk about how we came across aircrete and dome building; what kind of building material aircrete is; why we chose to use this alternative building method -pros and cons; how Nicole got Eddie on board with it- ha. We talk about finding our designer and builder; what the design process has been like; and when we hope to start building!

We're very excited to get started on creating a beautiful, healthy, safe dwelling for our family to live, sleep, be nourished, spend time together in, and host friends/family.

This week is our Panama City Trip Recap! We visited Panama City back in October 2023 for a 3 (turned 4) day weekend to visit the USA Embassy. We needed to go to the Embassy to complete some business regarding our Panamanian drivers licenses.

The trip included lots of good food, beautiful architecture, an amazing Airb&b, and….the beginning of the protests here in Panama. We ended up releasing our “Protests In Panama” episodes before this, because we thought they were more important to hear. But our Panama City trip was lots of fun and we’re excited to share it with you.
