The NURTURE element is one of the 3 Essential Elements of parenting, and it has many facets. The simplest way to understand it, is to consider it from the point of needs — the needs of the child on the one hand, and the needs of the parent on the other.
Part of developing a strong parenting presence and having more control over how we show up is to have a sense of inner knowing, a sense of confidence in being able to find the answers we need. This is how we can think of our parenting wisdom.
But how do we acquire that wisdom?
Do we read a ton of books? Do we Google and look things up online? And what do we do when we need answers in the moment?
The way we go about cultivating and accessing our own wisdom is through having a really good understanding of the ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS that strong parenting is based on. These elements are: Nurture, Values, and Boundaries.
Along with the concept of the parenting presence, we are be discussing a parenting framework that I call MINIMUM VIABLE PARENTING. Whereas The Parenting Presence is the "space" in which parenting takes place, Minimum Viable Parenting is what gives us the core essentials and a set of guiding principles that support our parenting work.
We can think of these two concepts in terms of a recipe metaphor: the Minimum Viable Parenting is the ingredients, and The Parenting Presence is the secret sauce. All the benefits of using the MVP framework come from combining it with the "secret sauce" of The Parenting Presence, so make sure you listen to Episode 001 as well.
In this episode we explore the MINIMUM VIABLE PARENTING framework and look at the essential parallels it has with the notion of the Minimum Viable Product from the world of business. When it comes to parenting, an MVP would represent a Minimum Viable Skill-Set you need as a parent to get moving in the right direction, no matter where you are at right now.

There is a space in our parenting world that has the most influence on what happens between us and our children.
In fact, it is the most important variable that influences the parent/child dynamic, but it is often overlooked because it is somewhat intangible.
This space is called the "parenting presence" and it remains invisible to us until we learn to be aware of it. And when we do, we are able to tap into a well of powerful resources — always available to us. That is where we find answers to parenting challenges and dilemmas.
