I genuinely want to see Local Government Minister Simeon Brown get some kind of local government win on the board, gods know he needs one after forcing the Maori ward referenda, putting back costs to Councils on things like water infrastructure, forcing councils to ignore safety measures to increase speeds around schools, rushing into WCC with an observer based on erroneous reports from a couple of disgruntled right wing Councillors that press coverage of local democracy in action - he’s not exactly Mr Popular. But I have a way he could get a win - he could fire a conspiracy spouting sovereign citizen who keeps ignoring code of conduct findings and threatening elected officials.
