Andrew sees the momentum for change in healthcare and how PracticeWell will support this change through benefits to its members. The ultimate goal is to produce healthier patients. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. Andrew has also spent five years as a firefighter paramedic in California. He still volunteers regularly as a first responder in the Bay Area, where he resides with his creative two-year-old daughter and active five-year-old son.

  • 083 Connecting The Dots Between Inadequate Payments and Resources to Burnout

Susan J. Kressly, MD, FAAP, is board certified in Pediatrics and Clinical Informatics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She served her residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and stayed an additional year as Chief Pediatric Resident.

Dr. Kressly began practicing in the Doylestown area in 1990 and has been an involved medical community member since then. She is a past president of the PA Chapter of the AAP and several national AAP committees. She served as medical director for Office Practicum EHR for over a decade.

Dr. Kressly enjoys the beach, reading, Scrabble, playing with her grandsons, and volunteering advocacy for women, children, and wildlife in her spare time.

While retiring from clinical practice in August 2020, she continues to influence children's healthcare nationally.

"If we give pediatricians the right resources and appropriate payment to be able to serve the families, we can do amazing things. That is what's killing us, the lack of appropriate resources. Yes, all the administrative burden and crap is getting in the way, but as pediatricians, you know, you make a difference.

I can jump through a few hoops, but we must eliminate some ridiculous hoop-jumping and administrative burdens that add no value to care. We have to get back to allowing pediatricians to add value to provide care to the patients they are privileged to serve, filling our cup and strengthening us.

Linked arm in arm to change the world with our patients because we don't stand to advocate without surrounded arms linked with the patients and families we care for. We're not here to promote us. We're here on behalf of them. The kids sent me. This isn't about me; this is the kid sent me because they're looking at me longingly; please, sir, may I have some more?

And I'm tired of begging for porridge for my kids. They deserve it. And I want to get to the people who dole out the porridge so that the kids get the fair share and we can distribute it how they need it. "

A 1978 UMKC School of Medicine graduate, Dr. Jackson completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s and an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern before joining Children’s Mercy Kansas City faculty in 1984. Acknowledged locally, regionally, and nationally as an educator on pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases topics, she is recognized for developing one of the most robust pediatric infectious diseases programs in the country and for educating thousands of students, residents, fellows, and faculty in pediatrics throughout her nearly 40-year career. In 2019, she was recognized with the American Academy of Pediatrics award for Lifetime Contribution to Infectious Diseases Education. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, she served as a National Vaccine Advisory Committee member from 2017-2021. Her research efforts have focused on the characterization of Kawasaki disease, prevention of antibiotic resistance, judicious use of antibiotics, emerging viruses, and optimal use of vaccines. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has served on University, state, and national advisory committees. For the last five years, Dr. Jackson has been the Dean of the UMKC School of Medicine, working to promote recruitment and retention of a diverse student body and faculty, inspire changes in an already innovative curriculum, and promote a vibrant discovery enterprise for their MD degree programs, the Masters in Science Physician Assistant, the Masters in Science Anesthesia Assistant and Graduate Health Education programs.
