We broke the Best Popular Film Oscar News last week with our Halfisode 16, and now it’s time for a much more in depth look at the 3 major changes to the Academy Award. The backlash from well, almost everyone has cast doubt on whether or not the Academy will go through with these proposals. If they do, we discuss the fallout. If they tweak their plans, we offer some alternatives that could help them save face. But our favorite part of this episode - we tell you what we’d do.

Our plan is built on many stats from years previous, and we also discuss how & why the Academy came to such desperate measures. Of course, we argue how & if & when these changes became necessary. Then we break down how we’d change the narrative from public relations nightmare to ummm… less of that.

OK, let’s be honest. Our solutions would be pretty radical. But damn, they’re fun to discuss and debate. You may find some of these ideas elsewhere, and we cite sources from Variety, THR, Indiewire, The Ringer, and our friends at Next Best Picture. But in totality, you won’t hear another set of outside the box solutions like these.
