occasionally a single interpretation of a character becomes so indelibly linked to that character, that the world will be unable to see it as anyone else for potentially generations. These performances become iconic, embedded into the fabric of our reality. For many Moses will always look like Charlton Heston, God will sound like Morgan Freeman and Dorothy will always Be Judy Garland.
So to will Superman always be Christopher Reeve. Nearly 50 years on he is still intrinsically tied to the part. And even though his later life was changed by a tragic accident, he still embodied the spirit of a hero throughout. This documentary explores his life, his challenges and unpacks what made him a hero for so many.
Due to Jill being the only person who caught the film this episode also includes reviews of two other films:
Nightbitch: Starring Amy Adams – in which a new mother tries to cope with motherhood and also at night becomes a dog.
https://youtu.be/918prRymA-U?si=dCmw98G9noL10zOW
and
Lee: Starring Kate Winslet – Based on a true story of Lee Miller a model turned photographer who then turned her lens onto the human face of suffering in World War 2.

Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You. Only better in every way. You should try this new product, The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. It generates another you. A new, younger, more beautiful, more perfect, you. And there’s only one rule: You share time. One week for you. One week for the new you. Seven days each. A perfect balance. Easy. Right? If you respect the balance… what could possibly go wrong?
Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley take on this incredibly incisive look at the world of female stars and what happens when they age; by way of Director Coralie Fargeat‘s careful eye.
Jill, Dion and the younger hotter version of Quinny (who disappointingly looks exactly the same) are here for this exploration of body dysmorphia, female disempowerment, sexual politics and showering people in gouts of blood and viscera.
It’s a good time!
Elisabeth Sparkle, renowned for an aerobics show, faces a devastating blow on her 50th birthday as her boss fires her. Amid her distress, a laboratory offers her a substance which promises to transform her into an enhanced version of herself.
In this episode we also cover the following topics:

Wolfs is the grammatically problematic new Apple TV movie starring the charisma power duo of Brad Pitt and George Clooney. They take on the role of “fixers” who have been called to deal with a dead young man in a high profile D.A.’s expensive hotel room. Hilarity ensues.
The whole team is back for this one though lets be honest due to Covid, Jill’s viewing of the film may have been entirely in another state of consciousness. 😉
Two rival fixers cross paths when they’re both called in to help cover up a prominent New York official’s misstep. Over one explosive night, they’ll have to set aside their petty grievances and their egos to finish the job.

This week we are calming down from all our international travels and interstate excursions… our Movie Premieres, interviews and general excitingness… This week we are plonking ourselves firmly on the couch and checking out the new TV that has dropped into our streaming services in a “Magical Menagerie” of Witches, Wizards, Goblins and Gangsters as well as the occasional Penguin.
We are sharing our thoughts on three high profile premium format spinoff shows that are the talk of the televisual town; the Wandavision follow-up “Agatha All Along“, The second season of the divisive “Rings of Power” and the spinoff to Matt Reeves The Batman, the equally cleverly titled “The Penguin“…
The crew is all back on deck as we surf these airwaves and round up the good the bad and the occasionally naked!
Apologies to all our regular Twitch viewers for the quality of this weeks show, technical issues really did us a number. But the Podcast is about as slick as it always is. So maybe just go listen to that…

You got the touch!!! Now get into this podcast and prepare for the POWER!
With the upcoming release of the new Transformers animated film we have had a big week of talking about Transforming robots and “plastic crack”. Regular host Quinny is joined by special guests Lisamaree Chiu and Jason Murray from the Transformers Collectors Club of Australia to get down and dirty with this exciting, lore heavy re-exploration of the Transformers story on the big screen.
TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of OPTIMUS PRIME (Chris Hemsworth) and MEGATRON (Brian Tyree Henry), one day to be sworn enemies, but now close friends; Orion Pax and D-16. Two working class miners struggling to rise above their life of servitude. All that changes however, when they find a map to a lost artifact called the Matrix of Leadership. They are joined by B-127 (Bumblebee) and Elita One on their epic journey that will change the fate of Cybertron forever.
But we know you want MORE, so as part of this weeks show, with huge thanks to Access Reel, we got the opportunity to not only go to the Australian Premiere of the film, but also sit down with the Director Josh Cooley, and the producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura! You can find that interview, in full in the podcast!

In this US Blumhouse remake of Speak No Evil, (a blisteringly fast-turnaround of the Danish original film from 2022 of the same name) James McAvoy, Aisling Franciosi, Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy learn the true meaning of making new friends as an adult: abject horror. Parenting, social niceties, politeness and vicious murder and death all play their part in this extremely well thought out “Elevated Horror”. the real question comes in when we explore how necessary it might be, given the original came out barely 2 years prior and was also mostly in english.
Dion and Peta are out this week, so Jill and Quinny are going though the horror show together.
Errata: in the podcast Quinny regularly says the other version of the film is Dutch. it is not, it is Danish, and it was released in 2022, not 2023. We apologize for the mistake.
A dream holiday turns into a living nightmare when an American couple and their daughter spend the weekend at a British family’s idyllic country estate.
In this episode we also cover topics such as:
The Perfect Couple
The Franchise
Kaos
Lower Decks Season 5

There may be no fate but what we make, but if this new animated take on the time travelling killer robot franchise is to be believed, there may be no fate at all! Before Terminator Zero we have had 6 Terminator movies, a Machinima series (?) a TV show exploring the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey interactions of Skynet, the Terminators and the human survivors lead by John Connor. Now for the first time we’re exploring what the rest of the world was doing at the same time… in Anime form thanks to Production IG and Netflix!
We’re all in the time bubble for this episode, though as we’re all in the buff, our eyes are staying very firmly above the neck.
In 1997 Tokyo, Malcolm Lee is developing Kokoro, an AI system intended to compete with Skynet. A day before Judgment Day, Lee finds himself and his three children pursued by an unknown robot assassin and a mysterious soldier from the year 2022 has been sent to protect him.

People once believed that when a franchise dies, a crow carries it to the land of the dead (direct to video). But sometimes, something so bad happens to a film series that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the franchise can’t rest. The Crow is that franchise, and despite it languishing in Development Hell for nearly 20 years it has now been resurrected to shamble onto the screen once more.
Caw, Caw, Bang! it’s a new Crow film!
Dion, Quinny and Jill are the revenants haunting this review, and in the post show they also talked about the following:
Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Draven returns to seek bloody revenge against the killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

In a future where our closest personal assistants are cutesy robots with giant heads, how do we cope if they decide they don’t like us? Rashida Jones stars in Sunny this stylish and bizarre Apple TV sci-fi series which clashes robotics, grief, the Yakuza and ’60s Japanese pop music into a fusion nobody was expecting.
The whole crew is on board for this one, wether they be cute Japanese robots, miserable alcoholics or morally questionable Yakuza folks…
Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto whose husband and son vanished in a plane crash, receives a domestic robot from her husband’s robotics company.
