In June of 2021, we hosted the Petrus Leadership Conference in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado with one hundred development and ministry leaders from around the country. Over the three day conference, we had more than 20 presenters talking about the techniques and mechanics of fundraising as well as inspirational topics such as eulogy virtues and telling a compelling story. In this episode, Andrew visits with Matthew Warner, founder and president of Flocknote, a technology company with a mission to build a more connected Church. As part of this mission, Matthew is driven to understand and educate priests and ministry leaders on how to connect specifically with the middle 82 percent of Catholics. Those Catholics that are neither dynamic nor absent Catholics but, rather, somewhere in the middle in terms of involvement. Sarah Du Preez, Director of Development for the St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish at the University of Arkansas joins Andrew for this episode about capital campaigns. Sarah started in her role the same week that the ministry kicked off a feasibility study for a $12.5 million dollar capital campaign. Andrew and Sarah chat about her experience in development, her track record of success working on big projects, and her apprehension about her new role and the enormity of the project before her.


Today, they are sitting down together at the official launch of the campaign and next year, they will sit down again for a part 2 conversation about what she has learned through the process. And we are pleased to be here for the journey!

In this episode, Andrew visits with Kevin Cotter, executive director of Amazing Parishes, a ministry that offers instruction, education, and coaching to pastors to help them develop a team around them to make their parish amazing.  We all know and have experienced our church leadership transitioning over the years. Many priests and pastors struggle to know how to lead and how to build up an enduring leadership team that can survive those transitions, illustrating a point that parish leadership is so important and critical to the community and to the lives of the parishioners. In this episode, Andrew and Kevin dive into this issue as well as discussing the importance of the apprenticeship model in the church and the need for a strong prayer life both personally and professionally.
