  • A Woman’s War - The Legend of Captain Gail Harris
All throughout history women have to fight for their place in the world. They have to go beyond the typical expectations that they’re meant for the home only. They need to stress their rights to suffrage, equal opportunities in the workforce, and better laws to protect them from abusers. In the process, however, the women become a lot tougher, more independent, and more goal centric than ever. To prove this point, one has to simply look at the life and achievements of Gail Harris.

Gail Harris’s early life may sound quite typical. She was born in New Jersey and grew up in one of its inner cities. She lived along with her two siblings and her parents, James and Lena. She took up political science in 1971.

  • Helwig Winery in Shenandoah Valley
The volcanic ashes located at the foothills of the Sierra Mountains, located in Amador County, only added more character to the place. Add to it are the vibrant colors of foliage and flowers, as well as the rich soil that feeds the growing vineyards or grape farms in the region. Indeed some of the best wines are produced right here, in the country, particularly in Shenandoah Valley. Across the vast lands are also quaint and usually vintage cellars and wine rooms, some of which are generous enough to open their doors to the public. One of these is the Helwig Winery.
The Makings of the Good Grapes

Helwig Winery is one of the most awarded vineyards and wine rooms in the country, having won the following categories in 2011 and 2012: Sparkling Rose de Syrah, Rose de Shenandoah, Helwig Barbera, and Round Up White.

The grapes are produced across four large vineyards found in Northern California, including the counties of Solano, El Dorado, and of, course, Amador. And through the years, they are able to produce, store, and sell wines through their intricate cave system.

  • Profile: Andy Berman (Electroboy)
A lot of manic depressives already display the early signs of their disorder while they were still young. Andy Berman was no different. At the age of seven or eight, he was already obsessive compulsive who loved to do constant counting, checking, and cleaning. Yet it was completely undiagnosed, as the people around him saw him perfectly fine.

It was already in the 1980s when he went to college in Wesleyan University. That’s when he started to spiral out of control. The easy access of drugs, sex, and alcohol only worsened his condition as he experienced a lot of manic episodes. When that happened, he was the star of the party, one of the best people to be with. He was bursting with energy that anyone easily gravitated toward him. Nevertheless, the bipolar disorder was also leading him the wrong directions that he almost failed in school.

  • Review - Toy Monique
The world we live in is usually unfair. A lot of people already have preconceived notions about certain individuals, especially if we’re talking about models and beauty queens: they’re all beauty but no brains, they’re not going to last long in the industry, they crave for attention.
Toy Monique has definitely gone through a number of harsh scenarios where she was judged, criticized, and even harassed. But the cruel realities of the world she is in doesn't deter her to prove that she’s a woman of substance and has even achieved more than those who are putting her down.

    Music Started Early
A lot of musicians do take a long time before they figure out that singing and playing are what they want to do their whole lives. This is certainly not the case of California-born and –bred Dawn Silva. While she was still in high school, along with her sister, she set up a band known as Windsong, and all played seventies hit music. Back then, she already possessed the funk, which was one of her main tickets to perform with George Clinton, who was a certified king in the genre.

  • Nightlife Review - BBW Club Plush
You cannot judge the book by its cover—yes, it’s cliche  but it still holds true up to this day. That’s why it’s extremely fortunate that in a crowd, often, the BBW (Big Beautiful Women) are discriminated, picked on, and harassed. Take, for example, clubs and bars. It isn't really uncommon to come across establishments who prevent the plump ladies from entering, or if ever they find themselves inside, force them to leave with a few insults or heckles from the other guests on the side.  The Birth of Club Plush   Club Plush becomes a refuge for cool music and lively people every night. Regularly some of the best DJs in the country whip up their own mixes and beats to the delight of the audience. Food and drinks, especially cocktails and beers, are overflowing. It’s one place that lets everyone feel so relaxed, comfortable, and eager to meet and mingle with other people. Should it lead to romance—that’s something only the ladies can tell. The bottom line is it’s easy to say that Club Plush is currently Tampa’s best nightclub.  READ FULL STORY...
