School of Rock’ has been a family favourite since the film — starring Jack Black — came out in 2003, and after being transformed into a musical in 2015 — with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and the Playwright being Julian Fellowes — the stage show has also been met with worldwide success.

The show ran from the 9th of November – 13th of November at the Grand Opera House, Belfast, as part of it’s UK Wide Tour, and I went to see it on the 12th. Since then, I had a pretty hectic November that has made me unable to write this review until now, but here’s my thoughts on the performance I saw nonetheless.

The Grand Opera House in Belfast is Northern Ireland’s most recognisable theatre, The Grand Opera House in Belfast is Northern Ireland’s most recognisable theatres. Open since 1895, it is known for staging musicals, comedies and pantomimes — making it an all round family favourite venue — and with its much anticipated rebuild now complete, the theatre is now back!

But how accessible is it if you’re a family with a disabled person, or if you’re a disabled person wanting to go out for the night with your friends? In this article, I will be reviewing how easy it was getting into and around the Grand Opera House on my recent visit, as well as my opinion on where the theatre falls short, based on the information found out by the wider disability community about the lack of disabled changing places within the theatre. I didn’t get to go all the way around the theatre, however, so another part of this review might come out in a couple of weeks after I go to see another show, when I will have time to go and look at other parts. But this is my review of the Grand Opera House, Belfast’s rebuild, an accessible tourism review!

Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived!

'Six The Musical' is a musical by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, about the six wives of Henry VIII. It came to the Grand Opera Hose in Belfast in October 2021. Here's my review of it anyhow.

Hi everyone, and a very big welcome to the official first episode of The Phoebs Lyle Podcast! To introduce myself, my name is Phoebe Lyle although I go by Phoebs, and I graduated with an HND in Broadcast Journalism in 2019 from the Belfast Met, before taking a bit of a year out to think about what I wanted to get into, which then went into 2020, and we all know what’s happened with the job market since.

So I’ve created this podcast as a bit of a way in to all the journalism topics I want to cover, which includes reviews of films, tv shows, theatrical performances and concerts, as well as politics, and tourism. You’ll also sometimes be hearing a wee bit of news of disability, which will draw off my own experiences and other people’s experiences, but only every now and again.

So to start us off, we’re going to be starting off with my review of Series 3 of the BBC Comedy, ‘Ghosts’, which finished airing on the BBC last week, and why we need to see a fourth series.
