The Pigskin Party Podcast - NFL Football

Brian, Will and Tommy welcome Maddy Hudak from ESPN Radio NOLA, who also writes for USA Today's The Saints Wire, to the show. The NFL Team Deep Dive series moves to the Flavor of the Week episode as the crew goes deep on the New Orleans Saints with Maddy. How did they get out of their precarious salary cap situation? Which QB does Maddy favor to take over for Drew Brees? What are her predictions for the Saints in 2021?

First, this week's Palate Cleanser sees the group discuss the recent trend of big ticket movies getting released on streaming platforms at the same time as theaters. Also, Maddy describes her love of horror movies.

It's podcast crossover time! Brian, Will and Tommy welcome the hosts of the Go Long with Dunne & Monos podcast. Tyler Dunne - Founder of the Go Long NFL Newsletter and former reporter for Bleacher Report, who also covered the Packers and Bills - makes his second appearance on the PPP. Jim Monos is the former Director of Player Personnel for the Buffalo Bills who also worked in the scouting departments of the Saints and Eagles. He is the first front office executive on the PPP and it won't be his last visit! Division previews are here as we get ever closer to the start of the 2021 NFL season. With Ty and Jim on, it's time to take a look ahead in the AFC East. Who will win the division? Will Josh Allen continue to play at an MVP-caliber level for the Bills? Will Tua Tagovailoa make the much needed 2nd year leap for Miami? Can Bill Belichick's Patriots rebound from from a disappointing 2020? Do the Jets finally have something to hope for with a new franchise QB and coaching regime?

Brian, Will and Tommy are rejoined by Luke Braun of the Locked On Vikings podcast from the main episode. The Flavor of the Week topic is breaking down the Top 10 NFL Defenses for 2021 according to PPP writer, Ross Crawford. You can read his rankings at pigskinpartypodcast.com under NFL Articles. Before that, though, this week's Palate Cleanser is all about the most iconic actor portrayals of fictional characters. Is Heath Ledger's turn as The Joker #1?

You know we're getting closer to the NFL season when the Hard Knocks team is announced! Brian, Will and Tommy welcome Luke Braun - host of the Locked On Vikings podcast - to the show. The guys discuss the latest NFL news including the Dallas Cowboys being chosen for HBO's Hard Knocks, the NCAA's ruling on college athletes being able to profit off themselves (NIL) and how that might affect the NFL as well as the ramifications of the Washington Football Team being fined $10M for a hostile workplace culture. The crew then does a few NFL Quick Hits news items before doing a Deep Dive of the Minnesota Vikings with Luke.

The party continues with the Flavor of the Week as Brian, Will and Tommy are rejoined by Fernando Ramirez of Sports Illustrated from the main episode. It's a lively episode as Will recycles a silly hat from the past in honor of Fernando. This week's Palate Cleanser asks if any superhero movie "moment" can top "Avengers Assemble" from Avengers: Endgame. For the Flavor of the Week topic, the guys each give their picks for NFL Head Coaches who are on the hot seat going into 2021.

The PPP gang is all here! After a  couple weeks without the full crew, Brian, Will and Tommy are all back on the show. It's a super-sized main episode with two guests as Fernando Ramirez - Chargers Reporter for Sports Illustrated - and Ari Meirov - Founder of My Sports Update (@MySportsUpdate on Twitter) join the Pigskin Party. The guys start by analyzing the new Opt-Out rules for 2021 and whether Aaron Rodgers would actually utilize that option as leverage against the Green Bay Packers. They then discuss the Steelers' peculiar move to release OG David DeCastro and replace him with OG Trai Turner, Xavien Howard's contract situation with the Miami Dolphins (and whether he should get a new deal) and cap it off by further speculating on who Tom Brady was dissing on that "The Shop" promo. Finally, the team Deep Dive series continues featuring the Los Angeles Chargers with Fernando.

Brian and Tommy continue the Pigskin Party without their co-host Will as they jump into the Flavor of the Week. Will McFadden of The Falcholic and the Bleav in Falcons podcast sticks around after the main episode for more PPP football fun. For this week's FotW topic, the crew debates the latest article from PPP writer, Ross Crawford, where he ranks the Top 10 NFL Offenses for the 2021 season.

First, this week's Palate Cleanser sees the guys discuss Video Game Movies and why it seems like so many of them are just plain bad.

Equality for the win! Brian is back and joined by Tommy, but no Will this week. They bring on Will McFadden (what a name!), a former reporter for the Atlanta Falcons, writer for The Falcoholic and host of the Bleav in Falcons podcast. It's Pride Month and what better way to start the show than by discussing the impact of Raiders DE Carl Nassib coming out as the first openly gay player on an active NFL roster! They then go on to speculate on which team/QB Tom Brady was referring to on HBO's The Shop promo, break down what Josh Allen's new deal with the Bills could look like and then debate the latest quotes out of team practices in another segment of Training Camp Nuggets: Fact or Fiction. Finally, they close it out with a Deep Dive of the Atlanta Falcons with Will.

Brian is still soaking up the sun and enjoying vacation so that means Will and Tommy take on the Flavor of the Week! They bring back Neal Thrailkill and Connor Cude from the 2 Tight Ends podcast (@2tightends) to plant their flags on a new segment called 'King of the Hill' and discuss the truth about some polarizing players with the NFL.

But before we dive into even more NFL news, we have to have a Palate Cleanser and our topic is the upcoming premiere of Fast & Furious 9.

Our fearless leader, Brian, is on vacation so he gives Tommy and Will the keys to take the reigns for this week's episode. Neal Thrailkill and Connor Cude from the 2 Tight Ends podcast (@2tightends) join this chaotic episode to discuss mandatory minicamp news, if Todd Gurley still has anything left in the tank, and Stephon Gilmore's future.

Then, the crew dives into their 'Dark Horse' picks (teams that will make the playoffs after missing last season) along with their 'Plungers' picks (teams that will miss the playoffs after making it last season).

Come join the fun to see if Will and Tommy have what it takes to produce some magic without the Captain of the PPP!
