The Pilot Project

We set phasers to kill for the original unaired pilot for Star Trek in 1965: "The Cage," starring an almost entirely different cast than the one that aired in 1966. Guest starring Travis from Low Player Count.

If you want to watch Star Trek's "The Cage," you can watch it on Netflix or Dailymotion:

About Star Trek (1965)

In 1965, NBC ordered a pilot for a new series called Star Trek with a pilot called "The Cage." It had a cast that was almost entirely different than the series we all know, other than Leonard Nimoy and Majel Barrett. The pilot was considered too cerebral and didn't have enough action, so NBC never aired it, opting to order a new pilot which would star the familiar original series cast with William Shatner, DeForrest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy, Walter Koenig and George Takei.

We're slamming into the turnbuckle with 1991's Tag Team, starring Rowdy Roddy Piper and Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Nate from Kvlt of Personality joins us to talk all things wrestling and where this show went wrong.

If you want to watch Tag Team, you can watch it on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1Gf3gXvZ-k

About Tag Team (1991)

In the early 1980s, Jesse "The Body" Ventura got into acting and landed a role in a show about a former wrestler turned cop. Ventura needed someone who really knew wrestling, so he enlisted Rowdy Roddy Piper after he showed interest and the show was turned into a buddy cop comedy, Tag Team. Only one episode was produced and burned off as a TV movie after the production companies sued each other and the show got caught in the middle.

About Justice League (1997)

In 1997, CBS tried to capitalize on the latest wave of super hero success by commissioning a Justice League live action TV series based on the more humorous Justice League International comics by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis. And they basically turned into a Friends rip-off.

About Viper

In 1994, CBS commissioned a pilot for another show about a vigilante with a cool car, Viper, starring no one  you really know. The show faced a lot of struggle before it even got on the air, with a lawsuit and CBS canceling it for being too violent. NBC picked it up at the behest of Daimler-Chrysler and Viper lived for one season before coming back two years later in syndication.
