Wherein Harry takes Santa Claus down a notch!

(best week 45-49)

Last week Murph came out of nowhere to save the day, but now we have to finish the job! Even though it's not a very good one, as ever Harry has a plan. How hard could it be to outrun the Wild Hunt long enough to take out its two supernatural badass leaders?

A well placed rifle shot, a hog to horse suicide jump, and some precisely applied Newtonian physics later, we find our Harley a jungle cat and our wizard the new leader of the Hunt! There's a big set piece with outsider piranha, three magic barges-well normal barges but they're set up for magic!--and a do or die battle to save the island and millions of people! And among the hustle and bustle, we get one last bittersweet cameo from a formerly good kitty.

We get bogged down in how history informed the present and how cities pop up. Lyss cracks most of the pots, and we fight off all the psychic assaults we can from life and Sharkface alike! Hop aboard, but try not to get slammed into any bulkheads! Cold Days chunk 10 starts NOW!

Wherein Harrys Lyft shows up just in time.

Harry knows its a trap, springs the trap, then gets mad that he got trapped. A wharehouse falls to the bottom of Lake Michigan with seven passengers, and the return trip scaress six of them for a different reason. 

Josh forgets a Thomas narrated short story, Alyssa goes on a road trip, the red cap goes barbed-wire dancing, the Wild Hunt goes a-huntin, and Harrys brain goes a-clunkin.

We think we have learned the identity of the bad guys, but that only very slightly makes things easier. The story is churning at full speed now as we approach the epic conclusion in just a few weeks tine, but for now, come on in, enjioy some pizza and celery, and hop on the Harley with us....Cold Days part 9 starts NOW!

(note: Apologies for both the tardiness and the sick/congested noises, though as you can guess they are related. I tried to get as much of my gross noises out as possible!)

We reunite with a very fussy Mother Winter and a quite chatty Mother Summer. The latter of whom takes our plucky hero on a stroll to the edge of the universe. We finally see Rashid in his element, as we see the Gates that keep our universe and the Empty Night separate, and learn of the epic conflict as Winter wages war against the Outside to protect this boundary. 

The stakes could not be higher as Harry must decide the balance of power in the very court which needs to be ever-vigilant in the battle against extinction: the psychopath or the romantic, whoyagot!?

Come on in and spark a clove dart! Lacuna will question your wardrobe choices, but in the end shes sworn to be harmless. Cold Cays part 8 starts...RIGHT NOW!

Murphy fights off Ace, Best Boy Sith takes care off the campy Sidhe, Butters takes care of the wounded, Toot takes care of Captain Hook, and Titania takes care of Harrys circle.

Thomas continues to steal the novel but Toot gives him a run for his money this week. Between his disdain for humans and their foibles, his trademark accidental wordplay, and his adoration for Lacuna, it really is the Major Generals chunk.

Watch where your binoculars are pointed but come on in, the tornados are warm! Cold Days chunk 7 starts NOW!!

Thomas tells Harry he needs to check himself before he wrecks Molly. An outsider does wreck Mac's, Lily and Maeve have news, and Ace comes for revenge....or something.

The concussion counter for the chunk is at two before a metal bat beating, but the wizard does manage to dish out some punishment to Outsider Sharkface with a sexy empowered version of Fuego. Cat Sith has another memorable cameo, Maeve is delightfully douchey, and Lily gives Harry a hug.

Wherein our wizard/warden/knight leaarns the stakes.

We get talked at a bunch this weeek, and even though its expo city and we have almost no vfx budget, the humor carried the day for mnother excellent chunk. Bob makes like a projector, Molly hexes like Harry, Thomas jokes like, well like thomas but it is great, Oderrung channels Lucy and holds the textbook and the football for our plucky hero, Alyssa puts on her tan jumpsuit and straps on her proton pack, while The Redcap does his best Wile E. Coyote impersonation, taking a cartoonish and well deserved splat.

Expo dump or not, there is a TON of new lore this week, not to mention a cameo from one vvery good, if surly kitty. Hop on your Sea-Doo and meet us on the lake cuz Cold Days 5 starts.....RIGHT NOW!

Wherein there be monsters, and Harry aint the only one!

This week starts of with a bang! Or a kaboom, I guess. Then, Its a Fairy Off! Toot and the Guard tackle Captain Hook-so hot right now!-in a manic pixie dream brawl.

Lyss heroically toughs it out through a cough as we discuss Mollys role in the narrative and unfortunately have to shudder through Harry discussing his first meeting with the G-hopp.

Thomas reminds Harry that big bro knows a thing or two about monsters, and Demonreach tells Harry he better start reading up on them too!

Chunk 4 of Cold Days comes in like an arctic hair dryer: kinda confusing and only mildly successful.....But it DOES start NOW!!

Wherein harry learns a life saving and ending secret!

There is a ton of expo and lore dumped on us, but in classic Butcherian fashion it is absolutely seamless! 

First, Sarissa and Harry warily trade answers to personal questions in Arctis Tor, while back in Chicago, Bob snarks his was through maybe the most game-changing revelation we've gotten so far!

Toot toot and the Guard steal multiple scenes and Andi shows up to shred a nice tux, though with good reason as Harry does serious damage to Butter's gaming rig!

Enjoy the episode that made us semi-finalists in the "Podcasts Where Gambling Advice Turns Into a Love Fest of 1992's 'The Cutting Edge'" (Western US Division)!! Cold Days chunk three coming in hot! Next week Cold Days 4: ch 12-16..

Look, this is so very skippable, but I wanted to get something out....

There is actually some good analysis in there, start around the three and a half hour mark for the yikeseyest comparison of piercing descriptions around!!

Besides that, Ive only cut a couple really personal convos out so this is the closest you get to raw Lyssy and Joshie, which I cant imagine anyone wanted, but I just couldnt do the holidays AND edit something Herman Mellville's corpse described as "excessive."

Wherein Harry begins to communicate with the Winter Sidhe.

(THIS IS JUST BREAKDOWN; ANALYSIS TO COME)

Harry gets a jolly old surprise meeting with someone from his childhood, we learn the Erlking's name, and we get more evidence that Eldest Gruff is a gentleman and a badass--tho probably not Lafortier's murderer, turns out.

A snotty Maeve and a her snottier minions try to cause trouble, Sarissa is all mysterious, and if you picture it the way I do. the rawhead is way less gross!

Its day one in the prison yard, so Harry makes sure all of winter knows he's not stuck in here with them, theyre stuck in here with HIM!

Sarissa wins the day with some iron resolve, and Mab gives Harry a shocking first command!
