If you had a nail in your forehead would you want someone to help you get it out? What if you were blind? Would you rather stay in your blindness or have sight? In today's passage we see the Pharisees angry that a man who was once blind can now see. But why? Could it be that this man's sight pointed our their own blindness?

Have you ever thought you could do something but realized halfway in you really couldn't? So many people are walking around thinking they have spiritual sight but are truly spiritually blind. In John chapter 9, we see a story of Jesus healing a blind man. While we know Jesus did came to physically give sight to the blind, could Jesus have been using this miracle to teach us a lot more?

Today's passage in John chapter 8 Jesus offers freedom. The Pharisees response is so similar to the response of many who are far from God even today; from what do we need freedom? Jesus' answer is simple: sin. However, He is truly challenging us with so much more.

Our whole lives we seek to find our own little paradise. We want to find the place that everything is perfect. If we find it, we hold onto it with white knuckles. But is this the way Jesus taught us to live? Is this the example He set for us? Let's look at John chapter 8 together.

The great poet and philosopher Marshall Mathers once implored the real Slim Shady to please stand up. In John chapter 7, it seems the Jews are asking a similar question to Jesus. They were confused about who He really was so Jesus explained it to them pretty plainly. Today we still struggle to see who the real biblical and historical Jesus is. Let's discover it together.

Returning to our study of the book of John we find ourselves in the beginning of chapter 7, which on first read seems fairly tame. The drama of the passage centers around verse 5 where we learn that not even Jesus' brothers believed His claims yet. Why didn't they believe? How could they not? And if they didn't how can we believe that Jesus was who He said He was?
