Continuing in our stroll through Genesis, we are introduced to a man named Jacob. He is a liar, a cheater, and in every way much more a scoundrel than he is a saint. How does this man become the namesake of God's chosen people, Israel? And why does Jesus reference a weird dream that Jacob has in the wilderness when describing Himself? Let's find out.

Stepping back into our series Long Story Short, we discover the beginning of God's plan to redeem earth in Genesis. God chose to redeem the world through a chosen people. This plan started with a promise to a man named Abram and continues to show itself to be true to us today.

John chapter 6 is full of some weird stuff. From spontaneous food multiplication, to teleportation, to... well, you'll see. But what does it all mean? What was Jesus really calling us into when he invited His disciples into in the passage? In John chapter 6 Jesus begins this to teach us that all of our toiling and trouble ends in Him for He is the bread of life.

John 6 is a turning point in the ministry of Jesus. He is approaching the second of three Passover Festivals that comprised His ministry, and all of His carefully laid out plans are beginning to show. Jesus, in unity with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, has been putting these plans into motion since time began. Jesus' disciples saw a crowd of hungry people, but Jesus saw the fulfillment of plans He wrote long ago.

If you were on trial, you would want your defense to call strong witnesses. In today's passage out of John 5, we see Jesus call probably 4 of the greatest witnesses anyone could ever call to defend His claims of deity and authority. These witnesses are quite compelling, but in today's world is there a fifth witness through which God is making His appeal?

As we continue to look at the book of John chapter 5 we see Jesus making some bold claims. After showing that He was Lord of the sabbath by performing a miracle Jesus goes on to tell us exactly why that is true. The real question we all have to ask is, after hearing Jesus' claims about Himself is He worth following?
