Jesse Lonis and Shannon Shorr get into a battle of the blinds during an event at the 2024 U.S. Poker Open at the PokerGo Studio in Las Vegas. Shorr puts Lonis all-in on the river and after some thought Lonis reaches for his timebank chips. To his horror, he can’t seem to find them anywhere! They’ve gone missing and he has only 10 seconds left to make a decision for his tournament life or his cards will be automatically folded!
You shouldn’t always raise your strong hands such as broadway cards from the small blind when it folds to you. You should mix between limping and raising, as this helps you maintain a balanced range. By doing so, your opponent will not be able to exploit your limps, as your range of limping from the small blind will not just contain weak ones but also some strong hands.
Jesse Lonis has over $10,600,00 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 150 on the all-time money list. He has two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. The first came from a 2022 $1,000 No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) 6-Max (Online Bracelet Event) where he won $73,371. The second was from the 2023 $50,000 Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) High Roller 8-Max, where he won $2,303,017, this is his biggest cash to date.
Shannon Shorr ‘basebal1b’ ‘aulophobia’ has over $13,300,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 100 on the all time money list. He has been a regular in tournaments and cash games of all stakes for over 15 years. He was also Jonathan Little’s best man at his wedding & is now a coach for PokerCoaching.com!
The 2024 U.S. Poker Open was the sixth edition of the USPO, a series of high-stakes poker tournaments held at PokerGO Studio at the Aria Hotel & Casino. The series ran from April 8th-17th, with 8 scheduled events culminating in the $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament finale.

Preflop:
In a battle of the blinds, Jesse Lonis limps in from the small blind with KTo. Shannon Shorr raises to 42,000 from the big blind with pocket nines and Lonis calls.
Flop – Kc 9c 4s:
Lonis checks from out of position after flopping top pair with a pair of kings, along with a backdoor straight draw and a backdoor flush draw. Shorr, who flops the second nuts with a set of nines, fires a continuation bet of 28,000. Lonis calls without knowing that he needs a miracle runner-runner to make the best hand.
Turn – Js:
The J of spades on the turn brings in a backdoor flush draw. Lonis improves to a gutshot straight draw to broadway in addition to his top pair. He checks and faces a bet of 120,000 from Shorr, who holds three nines. Lonis makes the call as they both head to the river.
River – 6s:
The backdoor flush completes with the 6 of spades on the river. Lonis checks for the third and final time holding top pair and a straight blocker. Shorr, unfazed by the potential straight or flush, bets 259,000, enough to put Lonis all-in. Lonis goes deep into the tank and after some time he realizes that he’s missing all of his precious timebanks. Will this impact his decision to call or fold? You’ll have to watch the full poker video to find out what happens!

During a three handed cash game at the Lodge Card Club in Texas, Brad Owen gets into a battle of the blinds with his friend Daniel. Brad decides to unload the clip with a missed flush draw by overbetting the river. Will he be able to get this huge bluff past his friend or will Daniel sniff it out and take some of those very sought after Bradley dollars?
When deciding to use a large bet size on the flop or turn, it’s important to ensure you are polarized with the hands that you choose to do it with. This means you should have either a very strong made hand or a strong draw. By doing so, you remain balanced, and your opponents will not be able to exploit you based on your bet sizing.
Brad Owen is a WPT ambassador and co-owner of The Lodge Card Club in Texas, he is a very successful YouTube poker vlogger with over 742,000 subscribers. His YouTube channel has had over 175,000,000 views. Primarily a cash game player Brad has started playing more tournaments since the start of 2022. His lifetime total live tournament winnings are over $900,000. His biggest cash for $152,266 came in December 2023 when he came 7th in the $50,000 WPT Alpha8, during the WPT World Championship at the Wynn, Las Vegas. Since 2022, Brad has played on over 26 live streamed cash games and has lost over $200,000.
In early 2022, poker professionals Doug Polk, Brad Owen, and Andrew Neeme joined forces to acquire a controlling stake in The Lodge Poker Club & Card Room, which happens to be the largest poker establishment in Austin, Texas. This exclusive poker club, accessible only to its members, boasts an impressive array of amenities, including over 80 poker tables of cash games and tournaments, operating around-the-clock. Additionally, The Lodge provides an inviting ambiance with 40 large-screen TVs, allowing poker club members to enjoy sports entertainment while playing poker or while relaxing in the cozy waiting area. The live poker stream includes commentary from Skull Mike and Slick Rick, who have been long-time regulars at The Lodge. They provide viewers with strategic insights, complemented by a perfect blend of humor. Lodge Card Club has bought San Antonio’s largest poker room, Rounders Card Club, which opened in July 2024. The new Lodge Card Club San Antonio will relocate to a larger space to host bigger tournaments and events. Chaz Gill, known as Big Daddy Chaz, will join Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, and Brad Owen as a partner to help meet the local poker community’s needs. There will be the same top-tier poker tournaments, cash games and service that Lodge Card Club is known for.
There is also a Lodge Live Stream that has had a variety of different poker players coming to play on stream, these include; Doug Polk ‘WCGRider’, Alex Foxen, Dan Cates ‘Jungleman’, Ben Lamb, Bill Perkins, Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme and Nik Airball.
Preflop:
Playing three-handed, Daniel raises to $150 from the small blind after the button folds. Brad Owen 3-bets to $500 from the big blind with the solver approved A5 of clubs. Daniel calls and they both head to the flop.
Flop – Jc 7h 2c:
Daniel checks as he is first to act. Brad puts out a continuation bet of $650, having flopped the nut flush draw, a backdoor wheel draw & an overcard. Daniel slides in the call, and they head to the turn to continue this battle of the blinds.
Turn – 9d:
Daniel checks for a second time after the 9 of diamonds appears on the turn. Brad fires a second barrel of $1,500, continuing to represent a premium pocket pair like aces or kings, even though he only has the nut flush draw and one overcard. Daniel calls again.
River – 4h:
Brad completely misses his draw on the 4 of hearts river, leaving him with just ace-high. After Daniel checks, Brad empties the clip with a $7,000 overbet. Will Daniel catch Brad with his hand in the cookie jar or will this audacious bluff get through? Stay tuned until the end of this poker video to see the outcome!

There are countless stories, pictures and videos of Phil Ivey proving to the world why he will probably go down as the greatest to have ever played poker. Today, you will witness one of these tales in which Ivey cements his godlike status once more after he puts Ramin Hajiyev into the blender on the river during a Triton Poker stop in Jeju, South Korea. Can Hajiyev find the hero call or will Ivey’s legendary bluff get through?
When you have the range and the nut advantage in a hand, it is advised to play your hand aggressively by betting more frequently. An example of this is if the board runs out low when defending from the big blind versus an under the gun open.
Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’, or ‘RaiseOnce’ on PokerStars, is an American professional poker player and a regular at the highest stakes tournaments and cash games all around the world. He has over $46,300,000 in live tournament earnings, putting him in the top 11 on the all-time money list. He has 11 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelets (only Phil Hellmuth has more). Phil Ivey is considered by many to be one of the greatest all-round poker players.
Ramin Hajiyev is a professional poker player from Azerbaijan. He has over $9,500,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 150 on the all-time money list. His biggest cash of $4,122,554 came at the 2023 $210,000 Luxon Invitational, during Triton Cyprus, which he won. He has one WSOP bracelet from the 2017 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), where he won a €1,000 Turbo 6-Max event for €18,088.
Triton Poker was founded in 2015 by Paul Phua and Richard Yong; their aim was to attract a healthy mixture of recreational poker players and seasoned poker professionals. They envisioned Triton as a series of poker events providing excellent entertainment value for audiences passionate about poker. Some of the most famous poker players to have appeared at Triton events have been Phil Ivey ‘RaiseOnce’, Tom Dwan ‘Durrr’, Patrick Antonius ‘The Finn’, Michael Addamo ‘imluckbox’, Chris Brewer, Jason Koon ‘JAKoon1985’, Tony G, Dan Cates ‘Jungleman’, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider’, Stephen Chidwick ‘stevie444’, Linus Loeliger ‘LLinusLLove’, Isaac Haxton ‘philivey2694’, Mikita Badziakouski ‘fish2013’, Timofey Kuznetsov ‘Trueteller’ and many more.
This was during the Triton Jeju Series at the Landing Casino, Shinhwa World – Jeju, South Korea; it had 19 poker tournaments ranging with buy-ins from $15,000 up to $150,000 in No Limit Hold’em (NLHE), Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) and Short-Deck (SD) and ran from March 5th – March 21st, 2024.
$30,000 – 2024 Triton Poker Series Jeju Event #5 – Results
1st: Adrian Mateos ‘Amadi17’ – Spain – $1,175,000
2nd: David Peters ‘SilentAssassin’ – U.S.A – $790,000
3rd: Yulian Bogdanov – Bulgaria – $557,000
4th: Seth Gottlieb ‘SmileThHero’ – U.S.A – $452,000
5th: Joao Vieira – ‘Naza114’ – Portugal – $358,000
6th: Ramin Hajiyev – Azerbaijan – $271,500
Preflop:
Phil Ivey raises to 160,000 with KJ of clubs from the cutoff. Ramin Hajiyev 3-bets to 450,000 from the button holding AKo. After the blinds fold, Ivey calls with his suited broadway cards and they head to the flop.
Flop – 6s 4h 3c
The low flop misses both players completely. Ivey checks with his two overcards and a backdoor flush draw. Hajiyev fires a standard continuation bet of 275,000 with his big slick which Ivey calls out of position.
Turn – 5h:
The 5 of hearts brings in a four-liner, meaning any three or seven would make a straight. Neither Ivey nor Hajiyev improves on this card and they both decide to check.
River – 7s:
When the 7 of spades hits the river, both players are playing the seven-high straight on board and will chop the pot if they both get to showdown. However, Ivey attempts to scoop the entire pot and moves all-in for 1,285,000. Will arguably the G.O.A.T. of poker get this epic bluff through, or will Hajiyev figure out Ivey’s antics and make the hero call to chop the pot? Stay tuned to the end of this poker video to see what happens!

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk steps away from the half pipe to play in a charity poker shootout tournament at the PokerGO studio in Las Vegas. In the heads-up part of the show, he faces poker professional Maria Ho. On an extremely wet board, Hawk has just seven-high and faces an overbet from Ho. How the adrenaline junkie responds is truly mind blowing & is not to be missed!
When you make a large bet or overbet on the river, you should be very polarized. This means that you should either have a really strong nutted hand or you have absolutely nothing. It helps keep you balanced when playing against Game Theory Optimal (GTO) studied opponents, meaning you will have a mixture of bluffs and value in your overbetting range.
Maria Ho is a professional poker player from America. She has over $5,400,000 in live tournament earnings, putting her in the top 350 on the all-time money list. She is well known for commentating on a wide variety of poker shows including the US Poker Open, Super High Roller Bowl, Poker Masters and the World Series of Poker.
Tony Hawk is a retired American professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is widely considered as one of the most influential skateboarders in history. Tony Hawk gained fame for his groundbreaking skills and achievements in vert skateboarding, including being the first person to land a “900” (a trick involving two and a half spins in mid-air). Apart from his success in the sport, Tony Hawk has built a successful business empire with his own skateboarding company and video game series. He remains an iconic figure in the skateboarding community and has made significant contributions to the popularization of the sport worldwide. Hawk has been involved in charity poker events and has played in tournaments alongside other celebrities. He only has one live tournament cash to date, according to HendonMob, which was for $5,000. It came in 2004 at the Celebrity Poker Showdown Season 4 in Las Vegas.
The 2016 Poker Central Shootout had given $85,000 to charity after hosting two phases of action at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. The first part of the tournament pitted celebrities and a qualifier from Zynga poker against each other in a six-handed Sit & Go to advance to a heads-up match between the professional poker players. The top three in the first part split $45,000, and the winners of the heads-up matches received $10,000 for a charity of their choice.
In the heads-up matches, Tyle Posey took on Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’; Tony Hawk played Maria Ho and Daniel Negreanu ‘DNegs’ or ‘KidPoker’ faced Chuck Liddell.
The Poker Central Charity Shootout featured Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black), Jennie Garth (90210), Tony Hawk, Chuck Liddell (UFC Heavyweight champion), Daniel Negreanu ‘DNegs’ or ‘KidPoker’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Jennifer Maddox (Zynga poker qualifier) and Maria Ho.
$0 – 2016 The Poker Central Charity Shootout – Results (1st Round)
1st: Tyler Posey – U.S.A – $20,000 (for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
2nd: Tony Hawk – U.S.A – $15,000 (for the Tony Hawk Foundation)
3rd: Chuck Liddell – U.S.A – $10,000 (for the St. Jude Foundation)
4th: Maria Ho – U.S.A – $0
5th: Daniel Negreanu ‘Dnegs’, ‘Kidpoker’ – Canada – $0
6th: Jennifer Maddox – U.S.A – $0
7th: Jennie Garth – U.S.A – $0
8th: Jackie Cruz – U.S.A – $0
Preflop:
Tony Hawk calls from the button with 75 of diamonds, which is also the small blind in heads-up poker. Maria Ho checks from the big blind with 63 of spades and they both head to the flop.
Flop – Ac Tc 4c:
The ace-high monotone flop misses both players. Ho checks with just a backdoor straight draw. Hawk checks back with his own backdoor straight draw.
Turn – 2c:
A fourth club arrives on the turn. Both players have improved to a gutshot straight draw. Ho bets 1,000 and Hawk calls with his suited one-gapper and gutshot straight draw to the wheel.
River – 8h:
The 8 of hearts on the river misses both players’ draws. They are each left with virtually nothing. Ho overbets for 4,000 with just six-high. Surely this is going to work since Hawk only has seven-high on such a wet and connected board, right? What the skateboarding G.O.A.T. does next has shocked even the top poker professionals! Stay tuned to find out what it is.

Have you ever been in a situation at the poker table where you just have no idea what you are meant to do? Well, that occasionally happens to professional poker players, too! While playing in a cash game at The Wynn in Las Vegas, Rampage Poker finds himself in a confusing situation when facing a min-raise on the turn whilst holding trips. Should he call, raise, or fold? He doesn’t know what to do! What would you do?
When you are out of position and playing very deep-stacked poker, you should use larger raise sizes when deciding to 3-bet your opponents. Playing out of position is extremely disadvantageous in poker as your opponent will have much more information about the hand than you will. If you were to play a game of rock, paper, scissors and you had the option to pick last. Who would win that game? You! By using a larger raise size you disincentivize your opponent in calling whilst it also helps you narrow their range when they do call. When the stacks become shallower you then start to use smaller 3-bet sizes out of position since the stack-to-pot ratio (SPR) is much lower than it would be in a deep stacked game.

Heads-up poker is the purest form of our beautiful game & there is nowhere to hide! There can only be one winner and one loser! In this heads-up battle Nikita Luther takes on David Williams during PokerGO’s Game of Gold in South Korea. Luther finds herself on the river with a busted draw. It looks like she doesn’t have the courage to fire out a bluff as she decides to check. Surely she has now waved the white flag to Williams to value bet his pair of jacks?
In full-ring games, when you defend from the big blind against a raise and then call a continuation bet on the flop, it’s often a solid strategy to have a leading range on turns that pair the middle or bottom card. These cards are more likely to be a part of your range than your opponent’s, so you can go into the leveling war. This allows you to mix in leads with both your value hands and your bluffs.
