It's the NFC South, which is not the best place to find depth at fantasy, but one man's trash is another man's treasure. Special guest Evan (Eplow) helps us breakdown each team's treasures, risks, projected end of season record, and we draft our best fantasy lineup. We also share some XFL news, a non-football treasure find story, and take it deep into overtime. It's fun talking football and other things.
What was once a dumpster fire of a division is now fertile soil to find fantasy points in. At least for some. The NFC East houses the Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, and Commanders. It's no surprise the love the big names get, but what is surprising are the opinions on who those big names are. Leaguemate Juan joins the show to dish on who he thinks will win the division, which players are on the rise, and who's on his naughty list.
We invited fellow league-mate Ryan aka Slickburn to help us breakdown the AFC North. Ryan proved to be the more practical one of the group and you can wager his predictions of team records will be far more accurate than Andrew or Mike's. They were far more bullish on the competitiveness of this division. With question marks at QB and back up RB's, there are still some really good fantasy assets this year. Not to mention some great dynasty stashes that could pay off next year. I'm looking at you seventh round draft pick QB Chris Oladokum, lol. But seriously, look him up.
It's the last week of the off season dead zone, where there's not much to talk about expect Deshaun Watson drama, Gronk's potential replacement in Tampa, and Adrian Peterson wanting to fight Le'Veon Bell in a celebrity deathmatch. Just the usual, so we decided to amp it up and talk about something else and then circle back. Happy Canada Day and Fourth of July everyone!
We're smack dab in the middle of that wretched time of year where all the news we hear is more tabloid than truth. Don't fall into the abyss of coach speak. Cling to the edge with us and avoid the traps and pitfalls of buying into a fantasy rug pull. Heck, you if you really want to get into someone's half-truth about something that's not really a thing, then let Andrew tell you about his Yoda is a secret Sith Lord theory. It's not half bad.
The void is a place where there is nothing and everything, and with that we have some football news, some trade talks, and some Obi-Wan spoilers. All tangents lead to the Void.
This episode might start off with a massive nod to Top Gun but it's really about the dangers that come from all the smoke, mirrors, and hype trains from mini camps. Be wary of the "coach speak" this time of year and take it with a grain of salt. To help you navigate the danger zone we bring some real hard facts of what's happening and sprinkle our thoughts on top. Of course there's tangents and even a ridiculous suggestion on creating a retirement spot. Yeah, you have to listen to hear how that works because it's cool!
We finally finished our rookie slow draft. Love the results. I think Cherven won by a landslide and oddly Andrew gobbled up most of the QBs very late. I propose the title of the best late round selections is between Bryce and Slick. So many high upside guys were split between these two that one of them has to hit. We also talk about some camp hype that leads into a tangent on contracts, player character, and team responsibilities. Some deep thought stuff.
Josh a.k.a TheMultibeasts is in the house to help us take a look at the 2021 rookies a year later. What does hindsight tell us about the rookies now, now that we've seen what they were able to do on their respective teams? We do a three round mock redraft to see where we would take these rookies now. The Top 5 were pretty consistent, the remaining Top 10 shifted quite a bit, and the next two rounds were a complete upheaval from where players were originally drafted. Some interesting opinions, some hurt feelings, a couple bad tastes remained in our mouths, but there were a few gems in this rough.
We invited several of our friends to join us in doing a dynasty startup mock draft. We thought it would be fun an interesting to see what our valuations of players were if we were to start a new team. To really shake things up, I invited Corey Bittner and two of his fantasy brethren (Evan and Eric) from another league to spice things up a bit. Of course we talk recent NFL news, which shook up the hornets' nest of opinions, plus there were some "Grade that Trade" from the most recent transactions that took place in our league. And when we finally got to the draft we made it through the first 5 rounds before having to tap out. Love some of the picks and reasoning behind them. There were some questionable ones as well. Overall, we learned a lot about our new friends and what players we hold dear in dynasty.
