Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are here to discuss Star Wars: The Clone Wars for its 15th anniversary. Joining them as special guest is Josh’s Anime x Pop co-host, Amanda Rivas.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a computer-animated series created by George Lucas. Following the theatrical Clone Wars movie, the show debuted on October 3, 2008 on Cartoon Network. Running for 133 episodes, the sixth season premiered on Netflix, while the seventh and final season streamed on Disney+. The final episode aired on May 4, 2020.

The show details the galactic conflict known as the Clone Wars. On the front lines are Jedi generals Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor). Fighting alongside them is an army of Clone Troopers (Dee Bradley Baker) and Anakin’s apprentice, Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein).

In addition to its popularity, The Clone Wars earned many awards and nominations. The series’ plotlines and characters continue to affect the Star Wars franchise in properties like Ahsoka, with Clone Wars Executive Producer Dave Filoni playing a crucial creative role.

Josh, Aaron, and Amanda talk about how they ended up watching The Clone Wars before going into the show’s plot, characters, and animation. They also highlight their favorite episodes and talk about the show legacy.

News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh break down the landmark deal between the WGA & the AMPTP, which finally ended the WGA Strike. If you would like to support the Hollywood community who are enduring a financial hardship with SAG-AFTRA still on strike and reportedly at least a month away from a resolution, please donate to the⁠ ⁠Entertainment Community Fund⁠⁠.

Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, & Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. Josh went with Disney Plus after a month with Ahsoka dominating online discourse, The Little Mermaid & Elemental dominating the streaming movie charts, Loki S2 hype, and the NFL’s Toy Story Telecast⁠.

Meanwhile, Bill opted to embrace Amazon Prime Video, thanks to the continued success of NFL Thursday Night Football, the surprising success of Wheel of Time S2, the debut of Gen V, and hype around Invincible S2.

Finally, Alex gave the crown to Max, who launched a live-sports package with a terrible name (B/R Sports Add-On) but a great package of live sports from the MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA, and US National soccer and is also debuting the second season of the smash streaming hit Our Flag Means Death and the trailer for next year’s Jodie Foster-starring True Detective S4.

New Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, & Josh review Gen V, Prime Video’s latest attempt to convert The Boys into a universe spanning franchise. The series stars a talented young ensemble led by Jaz Sinclair (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), who plays Marie Moreau, a new freshman at Godolkin University who is a blood bender with a horrifically tragic past who gets caught up in a conspiracy that could take down the entire university, if it doesn’t take down her and her new friends first.

Josh and Amanda lend their expertise to tell us how this fares as an anime movie, as Daniel and Alex have no idea what’s going on.  Aside from that, we delve into how well this movie utilizes the world of Batman, specifically its villains, the visual style, and go off on a Robin tangent – why can’t Batman movies get Robin right!
