The Portal - Daily College Recruiting and NIL Podcast

Ole Miss football took a hit with the new Transfer Portal rules because Lane Kiffin and his staff had mastered finding diamonds in the rough from both the winter and spring Portal windows. Half of Kiffin’s equation was removed.

The new college football Transfer Portal rules eliminated the spring window. The only open Transfer Portal window was announced as Jan. 2 through Jan. 16. I’ll explain how Ole Miss will likely take a step back for 2026, but long-term, the Rebels should evolve.

I also dive into the latest recruiting news, as well as give my Week 11 college football picks.

Tennessee’s Transfer Portal decisions – or misses as some would say – cost them versus Oklahoma. Vols fans are not happy about it.

Today’s discussion targets what Josh Heupel and the Tennessee staff should have done differently during the offseason to avoid three losses by early November.

The good news stems from the talented recruiting class, led by quarterback Faizon Brandon. How quickly will Brandon be behind center for Tennessee?

Which one of Florida State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin is the most likely to fire its respective head coach? None of Mike Norvell, Jonathan Smith, or Luke Fickell is living up to expectations, nor anything close to them. So why isn’t there more discussion about them being ousted? I explain on today’s show. I also present why the timing of possible head coaching firings greatly impacts the Transfer Portal – Florida State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin in particular – that each school’s administration needs to be concerned with. Of course, the latest recruiting and Transfer Portal news.

Michigan State fans have had enough; the Spartan faithful desire head coach Jonathan Smith to be fired. I back up why the MSU fans deserve for that to happen. Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share with why that’s going to cost the Spartans beyond the buyout.

Michigan State’s roster will likely be raided by other schools. Plus, Nick Marsh will command serious money if he enters the Transfer Portal. That’s just the start. So, will MSU get rid of Smith? Time to discuss what happens regardless of Smith keeping his job or not.

Miami’s College Football Playoff ranking was too low at #18. Why are the Hurricanes being overlooked, especially as it relates to Notre Dame? Along with Locked On Canes host, we will discuss the real reasons Miami is getting the shaft.

What can Miami do to climb into the Playoff discussion? Donno and I have strong opinions for what needs to happen next for the Hurricanes.

Oklahoma’s huge win at Tennessee changes the outlook for the Sooners’ 2025 season, and possibly for the tenure of head coach Brent Venables.

Does the Oklahoma fanbase believe in Venables and this staff? If not, what do they need to do to gain the full trust of the OU faithful?

Florida State’s Mike Norvell might be avoiding the chopping block. Not only did FSU beat Wake Forest 42 to 7 this past Saturday, the Noles added three recruits in the last couple of days. Today’s show explains why that matters not only for Noles fans, but other schools as well.

I break down the latest commitments and decommitments. It has been a busy last 24 hours.

Lane Kiffin is the primary focus for Florida’s coaching search. Should Kiffin be No. 1? How long should the UF administration wait if Kiffin decides to coach Ole Miss into the College Football Playoff?

Additionally, the Gators must give considerations for holding the roster together and not losing several recruits. The longer the coaching search moves on, the more damaging it may become.
