Ole Miss adds another top out-of-state football recruit, with Jett Goldsberry joining Lane Kiffin’s roster. Which position(s) Goldsberry will play and why he’s such a valuable recruit are defined on this podcast.

The bad news: Ole Miss’s in-state recruiting is bad; really bad. What’s going on in Oxford?

Penn State’s brutal recruiting stretch included losing four recruits to Notre Dame like Joey O’Brien and Khary Adams, plus Michigan beat them for Carter Meadows and Dorian Barney. Despite those losses, the Nittany Lions have a really good class.

Kevin Brown is one of the nation’s best offensive line recruits, Matt Sieg is a top-notch safety, and running back Messiah Mickens is considered among the best nationally. What’s next for Penn State to finish off the recruiting class?

Texas Tech’s massive NIL spending will be hitting a brick wall on August 1 when the NIL Clearinghouse, using software referred to as NIL Go, sees how the Red Raiders are structuring NIL deals for football recruits. They are not alone, mind you, but are a great case study and baseline to explain why during this podcast. While a complex overall issue, it will be defined in layman’s terms and done so quickly.

Auburn has been one of the schools taking a different approach with the new NIL rules. The opposite approach and the one the NCAA intended. Now, will the NCAA enforce its proposed policies, or will schools sticking to the rulebook have to adjust and do NIL deals like those skirting the rules?

It’s a make-or-break year for the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail & with their 2025 schedule. Will Brent Venables get it done?

The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 42 recruiting class, as of July 7. Further, the Sooners do not have an in-state commitment. That’s a circumstance that needs examining. The good news lies with another strong group of defensive line recruits and the future of the program being quarterback Bowe Bentley.

As for the schedule, I break down one of the nation’s most difficult and give my season-record prediction.

Notre Dame added three wide receiver recruits – Brayden Robinson, Devin Fitzgerald and Kaydon Finley – from Friday through Sunday. Combined, Notre Dame has five wide receiver commitments, a position it needed more talent and numbers. It’s more than numbers, as defined during this podcast.

The Fighting Irish reached a commitment total of 25, with top prospects still on the board. Notre Dame has a legitimate chance to sign the nation’s best overall recruiting class.

Syracuse football added 5-star Calvin Russell, one of the nation’s most coveted wide receiver recruits. Being from Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, Fran Brown’s staff also sent a message of being able to recruit any top Florida football recruit and winning.

Where does Syracuse football recruiting stand and what’s next for the Orange? I have some predictions.

Texas Tech made a massive payout to an offensive tackle recruit. Was it worth it?

Notre Dame landed its big wide receiver recruiting target, while Miami flipped a top cornerback committed to Michigan. Plus, numerous Power 4 commitments, and Army adds two good prospects, too!

Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M added big-time recruiting talent, and none of the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs, and Aggies slowed down since.

The LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns built recruiting momentum, with top prep recruits still deciding.

Props to the Arkansas Razorbacks for what they’ve accomplished with 24 commitments already. Florida’s recruiting class added a few more top recruits and could finish inside the top 10.

There’s one SEC school that’s bottomed out. All of that and more on this crossover edition of Locked On SEC and Locked On The Portal.
