The Fruit Bowl

When I say oldest, I mean longest?

Exactly how long is currently a disputed matter…😁

We kind of met somewhere between 3 and 5 years old. We lost touch in our 20s and 30s mostly my fault cos I was gallivanting all over the globe, but we reconnected in our 40s on Facebook and in our late 40s in person.

She’s the only one who knows my complete origin story and the first phone call should I need to hide a body… not that it would ever be necessary, but I know she’d be right there with gloves and a shovel…

So a few weeks back, I got a panicked phone call from a potter needing a kiln because hers went down mid firing…

I was shocked because…ANOTHER POTTER! And this potter is in Vieux Fort. So after the pottery saving kiln run, of course we stay in touch. This week she invited me to go over and do some throwing, of course I jumped at the chance!

So, I thought I’d pop up to the slab to have a lovely background while I caught you up, turns out…😁

Lola has not mellowed in the time since the last update. She still gets angry if I’m slow with the seeds 😁

Also, she’s started using me to chase other birds away, which I find a tad lazy… 😁

After a tense wait for the kiln to cool down, I opened it up to find 4 perfectly fired pieces.

The colour is beautiful and definitely easily repeatable, I’ve just cut half an hour off of the processing time of a bucket of raw clay 😁
