Today I chat with Carla Esparza, a pioneer female fighter in the MMA world and 2 time UFC champion, about her history as a fighter and how it's shifted as she's entered motherhood in the past year. We chat about what training looked like during pregnancy and her current plan to postpartum. Above all, Carla exemplifies the meaning of athletic maturity as she is patient with the process of returning to sport with a lifetime of athleticism as the goal.

Jiu Jitsu is something I didn't expect to be a part of my life as an adult, but it has been such a valuable and meaningful sport to be a part of, especially since moving to Idaho. I feel like I truly fell in love with BJJ when I was a blue belt and now I have recently been promoted to purple belt.
There is a growing population of pregnant and postpartum moms who want to be on and return to the mat. I've been working hard at building out P&PA Combat to bring more information about training during these seasons. More to come!

Today I bring on my husband, Jared, who recently got his black belt in Jiu Jitsu. He has been doing BJJ for 20 years and has been a catalyst for our entire family joining. We chat about all of the various benefits personally, athletically, and mentally that our family has attained through participating in this sport, including aiding in Jared's law enforcement career.
Every time you do Jiu Jitsu, you learn something- there is an array of different skill levels, backgrounds, and experiences in the same room and it teaches you how to react in different controlled and uncontrolled situations and environments. BJJ has been a constant in our lives and will want it to continue to be there. We hope more families will choose to participate in it!

P&PA Coach and seasoned business owner Rachel Graves joins me today as she tells her story of entering into the fitness industry, opening a successful gym, and then being forced to pivot after C-19, all while being pregnant and having her son. Postpartum was a difficult and pinnacle time for Rachel as she took time off to truly figure out what was next. Ultimately, she landed on opening a space above her garage where she serves women in all stages of life with devoted, amazing clients. Rachel talks about what it takes to build strong relationships and connections with clients that want to keep coming back for years to come, as well as connecting with other practitioners in the area to give your clients the best possible care that can get.
Rachel is an example of true endurance in entrepreneurship, as well as using her Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Certification to level up the great work she was already doing.

Today, I draw back the curtain on the creation of my coaching certification, Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I put my heart and soul into the creation of not only this course, but this movement for better serving female athletes through seasons of pregnancy and postpartum. And I knew it was going to be big.
The certification grew and evolved as I did and as more research was surfacing - and, I will continue to update this course in the future as things change. That is what makes this course different. So, take a stroll down memory lane with me as I tell the untold story of the creation of Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism.
To all of the current P&PA Coaches, thank you for all of the work you do. To the future coaches, we hope you will join us! Enrollment is now open for a limited time: https://go.pregnancyandpostpartumathleticism.com/ppa-coach-sale
