With Memorial Day upon us, we turn the only way appropriate for a Hoosier storyteller- toward the Indy 500 & memories therein.
The discoveries of an 11year old as he takes in his first Greatest Spectacle in Racing, albeit as a lowly seller of newspapers in the infield before and during the race, are simple.
But the sights and sounds of the event come alive in the telling.
Enjoy!!

THE MOST ENTERTAINING CROSSOVER EVENT!!
Okay, admittedly, that’s an exaggeration regarding this week’s TPC episode.
What is true is that two old friends come together and compare notes on their recollections of their shared neighborhood, 44th & Primrose Ave, NE side, Indianapolis, IN, growing up in the 50’s & 60’s
The compadres - Bob BASLER, the creative author of 5 AM STORIES, a twice weekly series of his life experiences found at robertbasler.sub stack.com & MARTY YOUNG, voice of the Chronicles
The result - a rollicking good time remembering the Old Neighborhood.
Enjoy & Blessings!!

This episode brings the TPC back around the kitchen table @ 4425 for a look at etiquette and manners deemed necessary by 50’s Moms to take a family out in public.
It’s a tongue in cheek account, but speaks to the very real efforts of parents during this era, to conduct themselves in a matter by which they can take their proper place in society albeit a buffet cafeteria.
Sounds mundane?
I don’t think so😊
Enjoy

This week’s episode completes the trilogy of tales honoring the teachers of one boomer’s youth.
This time it’s the representative faculty of Broad Ripple High School.
Teachers of the Math, English, history & science persuasions receive the TPC treatment, as the Chronicle’s racanteur revisits the classrooms and labs and even the library to bring the listener into a familiarity with the four years that shaped so much of what would be revealed in at least one adult.
For better or worse. That’s yours to decide.
