  • 173 Bonus: Princess Diaries Movies Double Feature

In this weeks episode, Lindsey and I discuss the films Princess Diaries and Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

The films star Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway, Hector Elizondo, and Heather Matarazzo. The films are directed by Gary Marshall and Chris Pine joins the cast in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

    The Princess Diaries:

A socially awkward but very bright 15-year-old girl being raised by a single mom discovers that she is the princess of a small European country because of the recent death of her long-absent father, who, unknown to her, was the crown prince of Genovia. She must make a choice between continuing the life of a San Francisco teen or stepping up to the throne. While Mia makes up her mind, she's pressed into taking princess lessons from her grandmother.

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement:

Princess Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) has just turned 21 and is supposed to succeed her grandmother as the Queen of Genovia. But Viscount Mabrey (John Rhys-Davies), who wants his nephew, who is also in line to the throne, to be the new ruler, reminds everyone of a law that states that an unmarried woman can't be made Queen, and with the backing of Parliament, he opposes Mia's coronation. Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Dame Julie Andrews) asks that Mia be allowed time to find a husband, and she is given 30 days, but Mabrey tries to do what he can to stop that: his nephew, Nicholas Devereaux (Chris Pine) has met Mia and they are attracted to each other, but Mia, upon learning who he is, dislikes and distrusts him, but Queen Clarisse has invited him to stay with them for the 30-day period to keep an eye on him.

*Chapter Discussion Starts at 21:54* (listen for the musical interlude to know the time)

    In this week’s chapters:

Scarlet and Wolf are once again reunited, and though his face has changed, his heart hasn’t. Once an alpha, always an alpha…or something like that.

Iko is disappointed that her android mind won’t allow her to see Queen Levana’s famed beauty, and she hates being left behind while Cinder fights the queen on her own. Good thing the handsome, though slightly annoying, guard Kenney is there for company.

Iko and Kenney find Kai and the others and assist in their escape. Kai is beyond relief to learn of Cinder’s safety, but their celebration is short lived as their need to evacuate intensifies with every passing moment.
