Doing Law Differently

The progressive law movement: Reinventing the delivery of legal services with Karen Finch (ep 86)

Listen Later

Karen Finch is the CEO of Legally Yours, an Australian legal marketplace that enables everyday Australians to access quality, experienced lawyers without the bill shock. She is also a passionate ambassador of the progressive law movement and a very wise one at that.

In this interview, not only do we dive deep and learn the ins and outs of how Legally Yours operates, but we also get the benefit of Karen’s generous wisdom about what it really takes to create a successful progressive law firm.

The standout for me is the clarity with which Karen was able to distill consumer needs into three simple points. Karen identifies the need for price transparency; access to information; and trusted guidance when choosing a lawyer (after all, so many law firm websites look the same!) as the three main barriers that prevent consumers from accessing legal advice. There is so much wisdom in that conversation that takes many (myself included!) decades to learn.

We talk about why lawyers shouldn’t charge for their services based on time, the importance of customer centricity and how to discover your passion and turn it into a business.

Thank you once again to Legally Yours and LawCPD for sponsoring this episode and making it possible for me to keep bringing these episodes to you.
