Hey!
Last week we had the privilege of welcoming a number of new subscribers to Protege as BETA testers for a new batch of content. This podcast isn't directly about that but what came of the call was a great discussion about trailer work, production tips and all kinds of other chat that I think as listeners of this podcast you'll pick up some great tips along the way.
Enjoy!

In this episode Guy talks about receiving feedback. Whether we like it or not the reality is that at some point in our career as a music composer we are going to have feedback sent to us on our music. It is our job has professionals to react to this feedback and deliver a version of our music that suits the needs of the client. I hope this episode helps you along that path!

In this episode we take a snippet from a chat with a new team member at Protege, Vicki Roberts. She wanted to know what my role was within the industry and the conversation took us to all kinds of areas but one part i want to share with you guys is this section about dealing with anxiety as a composer, along with a few other little bits ;)
I hope you enjoy this podcast!

This week we dive into another episode from our "Meet The Masterclass" series, where we chat to past and present members of the Protege Masterclass and get to know them a little better. Sean Latino, who is also a past student, interviews Algernon Van Peel in this episode. Algernon's creativity and ability is absolutely outstanding and I'm so pleased he agreed to join us for an episode!

This week we revealed the brief for our masterclass as being 'Collaboration'. One of a few courses that aren't based around a genre but more around an action. This week they're going to be teaming up with one of their fellow students to create a track. I thought it was a great subject to talk about on this podcast as it's something we'll all do, or have done, in some form during our career.
So I hope you enjoy this podcast and maybe the tips in here will help build the next star trailer duo!

Phil Lober
Cody Still

This week listen in as our host runs through the fundamentals of putting together a sound design track intended for use within horror trailers. In this run through he also uses sounds exclusively from Mammoth Audio's "Tank" sample pack and "Density" sample instrument.

Happy 2022!
A New Year always brings new challenges and goals. We’re constantly fed information online about goal setting and having your ‘best’ year. Sometimes that can feel like what you set yourself either isn’t enough or you end up setting your expectations way to high, which inevitably leads to disappointment and frustration.
This episode I talk about my experience with setting goals and what I feel are good methods to achieving fulfilling but achievable goals. It’s a skill in itself and one that needs practicing to develop.
