To close out our episodes for 2022 comes a truly creative spirit from New York in Olivier Laurent! Olivier is not only an artist but also a coach and author who sat down this week to share some of his story with us. From early influences like JAY-Z and G-Unit he’s crafted his own style and sound that recently led to his project “Lavi Bon” showcasing his love for hip-hop through his own lense. The title also fueled his brand of the same name and has been a great addition to his already existing 7twenty6 collective. He talks about the experience of consulting with other upcoming artists to help them grow and succeed in their own careers as a real eye opener and to give back in another way to the people who are also trying to make a career out of their art. With his recently released audio book, more music and live shows on the way Olivier will have another great 2023 as will this show as we continue on into giving you more great guests in two weeks! Returning this week after her original appearance on episode 18 is Dayton Ohio singer and artist Mariah J! With a packed 2022 under her belt she discusses her newest project “Unfolding” and the different life lessons she was able to weave into each of its 9 tracks. She also talked about the different collaborators who contributed and the story behind the album artwork and its overall representation of the projects meaning. Mariah has also been in the process of doing more live shows as well with longterm goals to produce her own concerts both locally and nationwide while giving other artists a platform to get themselves out there. From his early days in the local Sacramento group “09 Productions” Tommy G. always had a taste for experimental sounds and styles. We caught up with him this week on the show to discuss what his transition from those times into his new found solo artist path has been like! He touches on how picking up FL Studio and learning to produce has benefited him especially when putting his own vocals on the instrumentals. It’s led to his recent release of a series of singles including tracks like “Sunrise” and “Under the Bodhi”. It’s all leading to his upcoming EP “Blue World” which will tie the full story together. Not to mention his plan for a big 2023 with more releases, fan experiences and social media content to help keep his momentum going. On another part two edition of the show we welcomed back Chicago native and L.A. based producer Mike Daley! For our first episode we had discussed Mike’s origins with The Underdogs, his work with Rockie Fresh and his collaborations with K-Pop acts like NCT and this time around we got to catch up on what the last two years have brought his way. He touches specifically on not only the new music he’s been a part of but also the new opportunities he’s found in the Web 3 and NFT spaces that have provided a new lucrative lane for artists to release on their own terms and create a unique experience for their fans as consumers. Mike also discussed the importance of his family and the time he’s spent drawing inspiration from his day to day life to channel back into his recent works. With a producer project of his own on the ideas table Mike is continuing his constant pursuit for learning and growing even after the success he’s seen. He also detailed his love for boom bap and lo-fi styles both in his own work and as a fan of the more soulful side of Hip-Hop with influences like J Dilla at the forefront. Gldnmnd’s creative approach not only as a music maker but more importantly as a producer of opportunities for others are what we feel gives him his unique edge.
