Artificial Intelligence will radically change all of our lives. How do these psychiatrist residents think it will impact the mental health of their patients? What aspects of artificial intelligence do psychiatrists need to advocate for to best optimize our patient's health, and also our own career? How will AI impact physicians and advanced practitioners role within healthcare?

What is the actual scientific understanding of how exercise helps improve mood, sleep, and anxiety? This episode provides an in depth understanding of the science surrounding exercise. Dr. Chun and Dr. Noone chat about how psychiatric hospitals can encourage exercise both in the hospital and when patients are discharged. These physicians debate how taking patients outdoors for walks can create potential liabilities, but also perhaps improve agitation episodes.

Harm reduction strategies aim to meet patients where they are. They accept that many people are not ready to discontinue using opioids and instead look to minimize subsequent complications such as HIV, Hepatitis, and abscesses. This approach is not without controversy. Dr. Chun and Dr. Noone debate needle exchange programs, supervised injection sites, Suboxone, Methadone, and more.

Bullying, especially of medical students or residents, is an unfortunate reality of our medical education system. Deaths from drug overdoses have been increasing every year since the 1970s nearing 108,000 deaths in 2021. Many of these deaths involved fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. An estimated 4.4% of adults in the United States experience bipolar disorder at some time in their lives. Dr. Noone and Dr. Chun discuss everything about Bipolar disorder including the differences between how bipolar disorder is defined in textbooks and how it presents in the real world.
