Discouragement is one of the most common reasons people stop pursuing the life they truly want. When problems pile up, it’s easy to focus so much on what’s wrong that we lose sight of where we’re going.
In this episode, we talk about how discouragement works and how to overcome it. Instead of letting problems consume your focus, there is a better path forward: reconnecting with purpose and continuing to build the life your heart is longing for.
You’ll learn why discouragement happens, why focusing on problems can keep us stuck, and how shifting your focus toward purpose can help you regain clarity, motivation, and direction.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, tired, or tempted to quit, this conversation will help you take the next step forward.

In the episode Mark has a conversation with Aaron Goodman about how human beings change. In Aaron's words, "Vulnerability is the tipping point of change."
Change is hard. We oftentimes try to change by doing something impressive, or powerful. But we actually change through the pathway of being vulnerable.

How does a man lead in his own home? I think it’s fair to say that most of us men start a family without any concept of what it means to lead in the home. It does not take long before a man’s lack of confidence as a leader begins to show up.
Leading outside of the home has challenges for sure, but the dynamics of leading in the home are different. It is easier to be an effective leader in the board room than it is in the living room.
Here are principles for how to effectively lead in the home.
Servant leadership is not weak leadership.
Servant leadership is not about being weak or gentle.
Don’t be offended at weaknesses you see in your wife and kids. You get to be like a football coach who sees things that can threaten our ability to win. This is a conflict. You want to just serve, but you have to help people see the adversity.
If you ignore the tension that you feel about…you will cause conflict to grow. You will cause distance between you and your spouse in how you believe. This causes you to grow apart.
Examples:
If you don’t learn to share your thoughts….your wife will not know how to respond to you when you do share your thoughts. She may think you are disconnected, or just not interested. She will think she needs to take charge more. (Don’t put your wife in the position of trying to solve you. Share your heart.)

Too many women are running on empty, trying to hold everything together while quietly wondering where they slowly disappeared in the process.
We get so busy meeting everyone else’s expectations and needs that we forget to ask what we really want, who we truly are, and what sets our souls on fire.
Robin Goad knows what it’s like to lose yourself in the noise and the pressure. Through honest stories, hard-won lessons, and raw reflection, she helps you strip away the “shoulds” and reconnect with the woman underneath, the one who is strong, wise, and ready to rise.
Ask yourself:
If you answered YES, Girl by Birth, Woman by Fire is the missing piece you’ve been looking for.
