PWR is excited to welcome John Tubbs, owner of Albany Massage Professionals, onto our podcast! Him and PWR owner Brittany Burnham discuss John's journey from star athlete to massage therapist, and how he's learned to help himself and others through each obstacle life has thrown his way. About John:

John Tubbs is a licensed massage therapist in the state of New York with an extensive background in health, wellness and mindfulness practices. His extensive knowledge comes from his personal experience of living with chronic Lyme disease and Crohn’s disease which he brings into his work as a licensed massage therapist. Outside of his massage practice and business he is very involved in building awareness and advocacy through online coaching, networking and fundraising in the Lyme and Crohn’s disease communities. He is a father of two and very much enjoys sharing his time with his family while exploring his favorite hobbies like hiking, biking and skiing.

If you've ever tried a group fitness class, chances are you were able to jump right in via some sort of introductory offer. Depending on your experience, you may have left your first class feeling empowered or defeated. At PWR, we used to follow this approach, but realized that our members needed MORE. More guidance, more knowledge, more individualized attention. As a result, we've implemented a different approach to our new member experience. We want our members to enter a group class feeling confident AND competent in their abilities to perform exercises in a group setting.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: Through its mission and core values, PWR is committed to ending the stigma around mental health. On this episode, Coach Rah, which is a licensed mental health counselor, is joined by Coach Jen as well as one of our members, Bri Pagan. They discuss how mental health discussions have become more openly accepted in light of the pandemic effects, some eye-opening statistics. Bri shares her story, how PWR has helped support her journey, and gives some advice to others who may be at a crossroads in their own lives.
