Melanie Brethour is an inspiration to us all. As the mother of a child recently diagnosed with dyslexia, she took the bravest step possible: to set up for helping others.

Decoding Dyslexia Quebec was that next step.

The group (a Facebook group for the moment, but on the brink of expansion) helps hundreds of parents (and students) understand what dyslexia means for them and learn more about their or their child's newly-ordained superpower.

We're into a new stage of our podcast. It's episode #101. And we're joined by change-maker and schools expert, Laura McInerney, to chat teaching, tutoring, magic wands and schools.

Laura, alongside Professor Becky Allen, founded Teacher Tapp in 2017 as a culmination of a lifetime of interest in gathering information and delivering it to those who need it in as accessible a format as possible.

The app collects data from over 7,500 teachers in the UK every day, in an average of just 50 seconds, through a set of 3 short questions about teaching, education and the school environment.

We started with two main questions:

• What do teachers need right now?

and if you're involved in education, those are two of the most important questions you need to hear today.

"did teach is a platform dedicated to helping teachers smoothly transition from education into other sectors". Founder Katie Stickley embodies this vision entirely, and it's magical.

Katie is the Founder of did teach and also the co-founder of T.I.M.E, having previously worked for many years in the secondary sector. Did teach is a multifaceted site that helps teachers and educators of all kinds diversify their income or discover new career pathways.

As of 2022, the platform has grown to well over 10,000 members.

Alongside Baasit Siddiqui, Katie has also set up T.I.M.E which provides online courses and workshops for teachers, for parents and for students, empowering each portion of the education field to grow their skills and practice.

Individually, they are engaging and inspirational. But together, they are a very powerful force for good: Nudge Education CEO Diego Melo and Service Lead at Nudge Minds, Hannah Mitchell.

At the Love Tutoring Festival 24th-28th Jan 2022, Diego & Hannah will be leading the highly valuable lunchtime Insight and Mindfulness Sessions, from 1-1:30pm GMT every day.

These will consist of a series of mindfulness techniques, breath work and meditation for all educators. Partly based off a simple yet effective methodology of 15 deep, diaphragmatic breaths, these sessions will provide a real balance to the high-energy activity of the rest of each day.
