While the Conservatives led the way in Quebec during the 19th century, the early 20th century would see the beginning of the Liberal dynasty that would rule Quebec for nearly four decades. It would be a time of increased nationalism in Quebec, and the first push against the dominance of the Roman Catholic Church.
