Body Image is a major issue for many members of the queer community. Not only the pressure to be a certain shape and size, but presenting oneself in a certain way determines, often, whether members of our own community will accept us.

This is our first LIVE episode. For at least the rest of Victoria's lockdown we'll be streaming live each week. Join us on our Facebook (www.facebook.com/thequeeridea) Tuesday 6pm AEST. Our next episode is about body image and body shaming in the queer community.

In this episode we take a look at Josh and Earl's religious upbringings, and how religion plays a pivotal role in queer people's lives, whether we're of faith or not. Whether it's conversion therapy or the millions donated to try to stop same sex marraige in Australia, we all have to deal with religion. When he came out of the closet in 2019, Lil Nas X quickly became a contemporary cultural queer icon for many - unashamedly gay online and in his music videos, he brings sex and sexuality to everything that he does. But, as we discuss in this episode, is that always a good thing?

FinDom, or Financial Domination, is a type of kink where money-control is at the centre of it. In this short ep we talk through one of our team's experience with it, and how cashfags can enter into FanDom arrrangements more safely.

It's an ongoing conversation that seems to split the queer community: should police organisations be granted permission to march in uniform in pride parades? New York Pride has moved to ban police until 2025, Melbourne's Midsumma and Sydney's Mardi Gras continue to have the same conversation. In this show we unpack some of the nuances we see in the arguments on both sides and try to work out why it's such a controversial opinion.

Drag Queens are an important part of the queer community, but as they become more mainstream with  shows like Ru Paul's Drag Race, is it time to critically reflect on the art form? Are they an innocent bit of entertainment or are they akin to the minstrel shows of the early 19th Century? In this episode your hosts discuss what it means to them to have drag as part of the queer community and how drag has been such an important part of their queer beginnings.
