The final episode in our mini series on HIV sees our hosts joined by Dr Chris, a Melbourne doctor with a strong focus on queer communities and sexual health. Dr Chris breaks down all the information we need to know about PrEP, PEP and other listener questions.

PrEP, or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, can be taken in multiple ways, daily or on demand, and we hear some of the benefits of each. Dr Chris also steps us through the testing processes, the side effects we might experience, and the reasons why we might want to consider PrEP even if we're not highly sexually active. PEP on the other hand, Post-Exposure Prophylaxis, is for people who believe they have been exposed to HIV and are not taking PrEP. Depending on the risk profile, it includes a month-long course of varying doses of medication to help your body fight off the infection, but must be started within 72 hours of exposure (and the earlier the better).

The story follows a young group of friends as they all moving to London in the middle of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. We get to follow them through a 10 year journey as the UK learns about HIV, and the decimation it has on the queer community. In #12 we chatted with the founder of The Institute of Many, Nic, about living with HIV and the need for peer support. To continue our mini-series on HIV we chat with David Pieper, a member of TIM who is helping spear-head their Mardis Gras float.

David grew up a generation before Nic, and we speak with him about his experiences being diagnosed with, and living with HIV. For David, he went from having a disease that meant almost certain death, to being able to live a long, normal life.

Circuit Parties have been a part of gay culture for as long as anyone can remember, but in a mid-pandemic world where proximity and interaction can lead to illness or death, where does the line get drawn between civil liberties and social responsibilities? Unfolding over the last few months has been a "civil war" within the queer community, often between rich muscled white boys and the rest of the community.

Most recently, a Circuit Party in Mexico came under fire as a potential COVID Super-Spreader event, but also as backlash from community members saw an all-out social media fight between a new instagram account, @GaysOverCOVID, which began outing attendees to the party, and party goers. As a response, the party goers are offering a cash reward to track down the operator of the instagram account.

Journalist and Communications Expert Zack Ford added to the online commentary via Twitter where his thread quickly went viral and started to unearth some of the issues surround circuit parties, privilege, race, and sexuality. Zack joined us on this episode to discuss everything that's been going on.
