Galatians 6:2  Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.  

Sometimes you need the quiet strong support of those who care.  Even and especially when it’s a burden that presses in often.  

A listening ear connected to a caring heart is the best burden lifter I know.

Matthew 4:11  Then the devil left Him, and behold, 

angels came and ministered to Him. 

I am jealous of the angels. 

This word “ministered” means to help someone directly.  

The same word is used in the book of Luke, 

where a group of women provided for Jesus. 

Scripture teaches us we can minister to Jesus directly. Even today. 

I guess I shouldn't be jealous.

Isaiah 35:6 

Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

Lettie Burd Cowman titled her devotional book, Streams in the Desert, after this verse.

It was first published in 1925. Her writings were based on her hardships and her experiences of fellowship with God. I randomly opened my dusty copy to a page and it met me in just the right way. It turns out there was nothing random about it after all.

F.B. Meyer wrote: Remember to store up an accurate remembrance of the way in which God comforts thee. 

I’m glad Lettie did just that.

During times of weakness, do you ever feel a cloud of discouragement? 

A subtle lie that God likes you better running at full strength? 

The truth is, you can delight and please God - even from a hospital bed.

Psalm 147:4-5

He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

When my human-sized understanding was out of options, thoughts on this verse helped. It still does me good to remember. His understanding is infinite.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth.
