  • Raids and Resistance: LA City Council Member Eunisses Hernandez Speaks Boldly

Eunisses Hernandez is a native of Highland Park in Los Angeles and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She is the City Council Member for the 1st District in Los Angeles. In July of 2025, her district became an iconic flashpoint of the immigration raids as federal agents in tactical gear carrying firearms moved in on a region called, MacArthur Park. The federal agents were all walking in a straight line, side by side, some on horseback, as news helicopters hovered above. Her district is also home to Operation Trojan Horse where ICE agents hid in the back of a Penske moving van as they approached a Home Depot parking lot to apprehend day laborers. Council Member Hernandez speaks candidly about the ongoing immigration raids.
