Coming out of the Invasion angle that had dominated the WWE calendar through most of 2001, WWE were looking to reset and to that end they repositioned Steve Austin as a babyface, repositioned Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon as a heels, introduced Ric Flair as the thorn in the Chairman's side, unified the WWE and WCW titles, and brought back Triple H following his injury. Into this setting comes the Royal Rumble where Chris Jericho defends the Undisputed title against The Rock, and 30-men do battle to book their place in the main event of Wrestlemania X8.

A couple of weeks ago Netflix released their 6 part documentary looking at the life of former WWE owner, Vince McMahon, and in this episode of RWR Now, we discuss the overall quality of the doc, whether or not we felt it was balanced, who came across well, who came across badly, what and who it missed out and whether it focussed enough on McMahon, or it ultimately became a history of the WWE as a whole.

This week on the show we're covering WCW's Superbrawl IV, a night where Ric Flair and Vader were heading for a major showdown over the WCW World Title in the Thundercage! Also in the Thundercage, Sting, Dustin Rhodes and Brian Pillman battled Steve Austin, Rick Rude and Paul Orndorff. Lower down the card, Steven Regal was defending the Television Title against Arn Anderson and The Nasty Boys put their tag titles on the line opposite the team of Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne.

Following success in the epic Round Robin competition between all of our regular presenters, Alex Kirkman was crowned The Game Champion. Now, a few months later, Alex has to face his first challenger for the title. Having come through the round robin with a 100% record, there was no natural top contender for the belt and so Alex faces the challenge of Gavin Duenas, who is coming in with a Game record of 0-0. Can Alex see off this latest test, or will his title reign be talked about in the same breadth as Jack Swagger's and The Great Khali's?

In the autumn of 1998, faced with a resurgent WWE and scrambling for a way to hit back in the Monday night war, WCW hired The Ultimate Warrior to join the overflowing ranks of their ageing main event scene. At Fall Brawl 1998, Warrior would make his WCW in-ring debut in that year's War Games match- one that was fought under amended rules for 1998, with 3 teams competing, but with the winner of the match gaining a WCW World Title match at the following month's Halloween Havoc. In addition, the Steiner brothers were set to do battle, Dean Malenko was up against Curt Hennig, and Raven would take on Perry Saturn in a Raven's Rules match, with the fate of The Flock on the line!

Just 3 weeks after the '25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania', WWE were back with another offering on pay-per-view, with Backlash. The card was heavily shaped by the events of the 'Mania that had just taken place and featured John Cena defending his World Heavyweight Title against Edge in a Last Man Standing match, a unique 6-man tag match where Triple H's WWE Title was on the line as he fought alongside Shane McMahon and Batista against Legacy, and an I Quit match to continue the feud between the brothers Hardy.

Since becoming a regular on the podcast, Stephen Coriander has been hailing the performances of the man he calls the greatest wrestler of all time, Will Ospreay. Two of our other regulars had seen very little of his work, and so Stephen decided to set them the challenge of watching 8 of Ospreay's best matches, and this is the resulting conversation.
