The Simple Way a Widow Connected With New Neighbors - Episode 27
After moving to the area to be close to family, Elizabeth was a recent widow who didn't know very many people in the parish. But, after completing Reach More training, she knew that God was calling her to connect with people, so she kept her eyes open. It didn't take long before she felt God calling her to reach out to the women who lived in her condo community. Those conversations quickly blossomed into a flourishing bible study where she was able to provide fellowship for women both young and old who were looking for community.

Failure can teach us a lot in ministry and as hard as it is to face our mistakes, doing so can lead to great growth. Listen as Dan and Mari share the lessons learned from hard knocks. This meant not rushing relationships but rather inviting people to connect as friends before asking them to commit to living as a disciple. Evangelization moves at the speed of relationships, and they learned this the hard way.

After going through Reach More, Austin's pastor asked him to start a Bible study. To get his feet wet, he asked two high school friends and then shortly after, started asking his hospital coworkers. This turned out to be easier than he thought as people revealed to him their desire to join a Bible study before he even asked. We discuss how God helped him get to that point, as well as how he learned not to discount people before asking them and how to invite someone to become an intentional disciple.

When should you quit in ministry and when should you keep going? In this episode, Mari and Dan discuss how their last guest, military wife and mother Gabrielle learned an important lesson on knowing when and when not to quit, like when no one shows up to your first two planned events. They also discuss the positive benefits to Gabrielle’s family, why it is important to be able to tell our own story, and close by discussing a great resource to do just that.
