In this episode, Blaine introduces a Japanese concept called Shugyo, which is synonymous with ‘intense and austere’ training, but can also refer or suggest an area of your life or business that needs to be addressed and where there is ‘an absence of comfort’. The concept of Shugyo is one that encourages you to take on tasks, goals, and pursuits that have some kind of internal ‘calling’ but, for whatever reason, you aren’t doing yet.
With Shugyo, you listen to the small voice inside that is calling out to have an experience or accomplish something, and then you simply decide that you must attempt that thing and you accept that there will be, at minimum, the absence of comfort, if not downright discomfort.
