Whew. Today's episode is information-packed, educational, and inspirational. First, I open with clear explanations of the difference between Coaching, Counseling, and even other helping professions like Spiritual Direction, Trauma Therapy, and more. I address common objections to getting help like, "Can't I just pray about it" and more. Plus, I'll give you 3 critical things to consider if you are thinking about reaching out to solve a problem or get support in your life right now.
Then, you get to be a fly on the wall while I chat with my friend Susan Brown about Christian Life Coaching in general and even how we run our practices as professionals.
If you are interested in becoming a coach (or hiring a coach) this episode is your treasure trove. Enjoy!

And we're back! Let's pick up our weekly episodes again, kicking it off with this teaching about how we can rest from our need to achieve.
Do you often feel pressure, anxiousness, and even guilt when you aren't doing something that feels "productive?" That's really no way to live at all! Let's take a little look at why we feel that way, and how we can reframe our desire to work and grow in a Biblical way and I'll offer you a few ideas of ways that you can begin to rest instead of going, doing, growing, and working... all that time!

As mentioned in the episode I will return with new podcasts on September 11th. If you are hoping to find out more about the commentary I used in this episode, here's a link to the exact passage I read: LINK TO COMMENTARY READING This webpage has many commentaries on it. Look for the titled MacLaren's Expositions. It's a bit long. The section I read in today's episode is found about halfway down. Enjoy studying further!

Today my guest is Author Karis Meier. Karis and I talk about suffering (again, yes, for the 2nd week in a row) and how it holds treasures untold for us as believers. Karis has suffered from various physical alments for nearly 18 years and cycled from joyful, to hopeless, and everything in between. Together we venture through all that she has learned from this valley as well as the words of advice she has for people who are walking alongside others who are suffering; how to help them, how to be with them, how to love them when you are in a very different "place" then they are.
Karis has a joyfully infectious laugh, and a beautiful faithfulness, and is a rock in the Kingdom not because of anything she has done but because of what God has done in and through her. Listen in a meet a new sister in Christ, then go buy her book!

Today, I'm chatting with Lindsey Lamh about pain (physical and emotional) and suffering and how God uses it when we surrender to it. We cover:
- What kind of pain should we surrender to and which kind should we not
- How surrendering to pain actually relives much of it
- What does it mean to "assimilate" our suffering
- The treasures that can result from being in the refiners fire
And more. If your life has been hard lately and you are tired of all the toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing out there (just pray about it!) then this episode will be a balm to your dry and hurting soul. Listen. Lean in. Share it with a friend. You are loved. You are growing. You are safe.

For all my married listeners.... today's show is about to make you laugh, tear up with the relief that you aren't alone, and spark inspiration for you and YOUR MARRIAGE to move from ordinary (or worse, fading) to extraordinary.
Today I am interviewing Author & Marriage Coach Alisa DiLorenzo. She tells the story of the moment she knew her marriage was almost over and what she and her husband decided to do about it. We also get into:
- What to do if your marriage is just suffering a dry spell vs. what if your marriage is destructive and needs more help
- How to "restart" the muscle of putting each other first
- How to start "liking" each other again
- What to do if you are willing to put in more "work" than your spouse
Her book, "The 6 Pillars of Intimacy" is available now, and you can also check out her and her husband's podcast (which has over 600 episodes of how-to gold)

This month, we are exploring the theme of Purpose & Calling in the Abundant Life Lab and today, I get to chat with Heather Norman Smith, an Author who lives in North Carolina about the moment she felt "called" to her unique path of writing.
Leaning into her unexpected calling of being a Christian Author has inspired her to encourage other women to lean into their unique interests and passion as a way to tell others about Jesus. It doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to be "super spiritual." It doesn't have to be given to you by someone else. God made us the way we are on purpose! Our purpose is bigger, more fun, and dare I say "better" than many of us have been told it is. Yes, we have universal callings as believers but we also have unique giftings, passions, talents, and experiences that we can use to further the Kingdom. This chat is so REAL LIFE and will be VERY inspiring for all! Thank you Heather for leaning into your unique way of sharing Jesus with the world (and for writing your amazing book!)
