  • The Best Gift of All

It’s the season of gift-giving, and in this week’s podcast Ricky Smith, lead pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia, talks with Nate Dewberry about the most important gift any of us have ever received: God’s love, expressed through His son Jesus. Many times we might not consider ourselves worthy of that gift; other times we might not think about it at all. But God sending His son to die for us is a clear indicator both of how much He loves us, and of how much He’s willing to forgive.

  • You Don’t Have to Be Everything to Everybody

Jeremy Simmons thought he had everything—he had a fast-paced career, he was “planting” a new church, he had a successful wife and two beautiful daughters. But when his marriage fell apart, he says he felt “like I was watching the towers of my life fall down around me.” Moving back in with his parents and starting over was a humbling experience, but when he stopped trying to control everything and just let God carry him, Jeremy saw a glimmer of hope. Now remarried with a big blended family and working an exciting career in the healthcare industry, Jeremy has learned a lot from his experience—and in this week’s podcast with Nate Dewberry, he’s eager to share it with our listeners.

  • From Addict to Entrepreneur: Lessons in Stewardship

Rock Sandretto is an entrepreneur who, along with his beautiful wife and four children, manages a variety of successful business ventures in the Birmingham area. But if you told him about all that 15 years ago—when he was struggling to kick a drug addiction and his own parole officer told him he probably wasn’t going to be able to do it—he might not have believed you. The road to redemption was a long one that required discipline and the will to do difficult things, and in this week’s podcast Rock talks with The Redeemed’s Nate Dewberry about the many important lessons he learned along the way.

  • The Redeemed Tell Their Stories

This week we shift from our usual podcast format to three short segments with men for whom The Redeemed has made a real-life impact. You’ll meet Ron, who’s been involved with his church but was seeking a deeper connection with God; Vincent, who originally attended the Restored conference just to meet Tim Tebow but ended up finding something greater; and Noel, who’s taking what he’s gained from The Redeemed’s small groups and carrying it to others. We hope their conversations with Redeemed director Nate Dewberry will inspire you with a sense of purpose and gratitude for God’s many gifts as we head into the heart of the holiday season.

  • Zapping the Microwave Mentality

Personal trainer Chad McManus may focus primarily on his clients’ physical fitness, but his own personal philosophy is that physical, mental, and spiritual health are all connected, which can make it hard to improve one part when the others are lacking. In this week’s podcast with Nate Dewberry, Chad talks about recovering from the pain of divorce, being a dad (and stepdad), and the dangers of the “what now?” factor, that inner voice that can cause us to grow complacent once we’ve achieved major goals. He also shares his own tips for getting (and staying) physically fit—which includes spending time around the right kind of people.

  • We Do Hard Things Every Day

The stops on Thomas Cox’s physical fitness journey include four years as a quarterback for the UAB Blazers, seven as a college football coach, and the creation of both a health-oriented meal delivery service and a successful catering company. One of the biggest keys to his success, he says—in business, fitness, and life—is being willing to do hard things. “When hard tasks come up that are unknown,” he explains, “I want to go back to the hard things that I’ve done and say, ‘I did that, I know I can do this.’” In this week’s podcast with Nate Dewberry, Thomas talks about the challenges and joys of being a businessman, what he’s learned as a husband and father, and the times when men need to be a little selfish to keep themselves improving. He even shares some simple but profound tips on how men can start feeling healthier almost right away.

  • Staying Fit—in Both Body and Spirit

An interest in health and fitness that Brannen Dorman developed as a young kid eventually took him to Wheaton College, where he was a fullback on the football team; to coaching at schools in Florida; and now to Training Think Tank in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he helps athletes and others set fitness performance goals and plan how to achieve them. Though the world of fitness is “not a Christ-centric space,” Brannen has still found openings to talk about his faith, particularly with athletes who find themselves disillusioned by the win-at-all-costs attitude prevalent in sports—or just by modern life in general. Brannen talks with Paul Amos about the intersection between faith and fitness, as well as raising a family of faith, in this week’s podcast.

  • Live Your Eulogy Every Day

Greg Countryman didn’t make it from special-ed student to quadruple-degreed college graduate, professor, and now sheriff of Muscogee County, Georgia, without gaining some important insights along the way. This week the three-decade law enforcement veteran talks with Paul Amos about his personal journey, the challenges one faces as a high-profile public servant, and the hallmarks of good leadership. One key is knowing when to be willing to compromise, but there are some things, he says, that you should never compromise on—first and foremost, putting the Lord first and striving to do things “God’s way, not your way.”
