Nate Dewberry, director of The Redeemed, joins The Redeemed Man podcast. 
Nate Dewberry, who was appointed director at The Redeemed in 2022, bringing extensive experience as a student, associate, and administrative pastor, as well as several semesters of seminary training. A native of Lineville, Alabama, Nate earned a degree in horticulture at Auburn University and worked for seven years in the Auburn area as a landscape designer. He moved to Columbus, Georgia when his wife, an army veteran, was transferred to Fort Benning; he worked for several months at Global Teen Challenge, a network of faith-based organizations providing addiction rehabilitation services. Nathan is the father of a son and two daughters, and he, too, is open about his life struggles, including a difficult divorce; he looks forward to using what he learned from those experiences to help men in crisis.

Brett Clemmer joins The Redeemed Man Podcast.  Brett has been with the Florida-based ministry Man in the Mirror since the year 2000, serving as its president and CEO since 2016. The mission of Man in the Mirror is to help Christian men worldwide engage in meaningful relationships that change lives and build the kingdom of God. Garret Barbush, president and CEO of Men of Iron, a ministry that develops frameworks and resources for a number of different kinds of mentoring relationships joins The Redeemed Man Podcast. 

There are plenty of younger men out there looking for advice and mentoring from men with more life experience, Barbush says, and many older men who would jump at the chance to share what they’ve learned with a younger generation. “There’s just this stalemate that’s happening in God’s kingdom right now, and it’s that men just aren’t asking for it,” he explains.

Britt Gusmus, joins The Redeemed Man Podcast. Britt Gusmus, author of the recently released The Oak Tree Source, as well as co-author of The Impact of Influence, released last year. He was also a multi-sport athlete with prospects in Major League Baseball before, as he freely admits, bad choices and a lack of emotional maturity derailed his athletic career. But his spiritual journey taught him that he needed to “evolve” from what the world saw him as into the man God wanted him to be.  Now a coach, educator, and speaker, he draws upon his experiences to inspire similar evolutions in men of all ages.

Gary Miracle joins The Redeemed Man podcast. Gary Miracle,  a Tampa-area husband and father of four for whom a catastrophic blood infection cost all four of his limbs in early 2020. Yet his first thought upon learning the news wasn’t anger or despair, but rather the wisdom of the Book of Job—”The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away.” “I remember thinking that in my life, it was just my taking-away time. I can’t be thankful all my life for the things He’s given me and then be mad at Him for the things He’s taken away,” Miracle says. 

Today, armed with a wheelchair and prosthetics, Miracle does everything from household chores to coaching his kids’ sports teams and running two-mile races. And he hopes his story will inspire other people to find hope and healing through Christ. “I just want to preach from the rooftops about God’s grace, how good God is, and how He doesn’t make mistakes.”

Greg Bainter joins The Redeemed Man podcast. Greg Bainter, who struggled for decades with a pornography addiction before finding the courage to confess his secrets to his wife and re-dedicate himself to a godly life. His “recovery” was aided by LiveFree ministries and its accountability app, through which he met other men who had battled similar addictions—and, eventually, younger men whom Greg was able to mentor using his own struggles and experiences. 

Today Greg says he lives by three words: authenticity, vulnerability, and integrity. “I tell the guys I mentor, ‘If I slip up, I’m going to share that with you, even though I’m mentoring you. Because if you want to know me, you have to see me authentically, and that means the good and bad and the ugly. I just know that’s how I have to live my life going forward.”

Davey Blackburn, founder of Indianapolis-based Nothing Is Wasted Ministries, joins The Redeemed Man podcast. NIW’s message centers on the idea that even our traumas and tragedies have a higher purpose—“God does not waste an ounce of your pain,” Blackburn says, and his ministry’s mission is to help those who are feeling broken and defeated to discover how God wants us to learn and grow from those major challenges. Through inspirational content and a close-knit community, as well as spirit-centered life coaching, he aims to help those who are hurting “walk through [their] valley well and come out on the other side equipped with a renewed sense of meaning and purpose.”

Scott Smith, founder of Banished from Eden, joins The Redeemed Man podcast. Scott Smith, who grew up in a troubled household and spent a decade away from the church before being “radically saved” a few years ago. Today, through a number of efforts including his blog Banished from Eden, Smith has made it his mission to help other men find their way out of depression and addiction and back to a meaningful relationship with God. “I have a personal passion for men to be restored to what Christ has called us to be, in our homes, in our churches, and in the world,” he says. “And what He’s called me to do is help restore the strong, bold Christian men that the church needs.”

Carl Thomas joins The Redeemed Man podcast. Carl Thomas, who struggled with a pornography addiction for two decades before “getting free,” becoming an ordained pastor, and founding Live Free ministries to help other men stuck in a similar cycle of addiction.
 
A nationally certified neuro health coach, Thomas explains that porn is a symptom rather than a disease—“it’s just a thing that people turn to, like alcohol, drugs, overeating, or any number of things.” By focusing less on the shame aspect of addiction and more on the underlying issues that drive men to turn to porn as a distraction or escape, he says Live Free helps them break free of that dependency and gain a greater appreciation for the relationships and God-given blessings that truly make life worth living.
