Kudos to director Tim Burton for creating such a lovable/adorable protagonist. However, despite the captivation of Dumbo, it was not enough to ignore the films predictable plot points and lackluster setting. On the other hand, Oscar and Donnie both felt the cast did a great job with their portrayals and was one of the driving forces for the film. In episode 131 of The Reel-ists Podcast, Oscar and Donnie discuss DC's newest film "Shazam!" Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Zachary Levi star in the superhero film, and while all three actors gave stellar performances, the chemistry between Levi and Grazer was spot on. Oscar liked that the film had a great balance of comedy and action, and felt that the pace was good. However, he felt the villain Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) was a little lackluster. Donnie liked the comedy, but was expecting more. He also felt that the final fight scene (which takes place at a Fair) was anticlimactic and felt very "kids film" in essence. Both felt that the film overall was entertaining and a very interesting concept, however the execution of the final product was off. Both agreed that the story might have worked better as a limited series, being that so many questions were left unanswered. However, there were aspects to the film Donnie and Oscar did like. Here in episode 128, Oscar and Donnie discuss the latest teenage love tragedy "Five Feet Apart" starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson. Compared to other films like "A Fault In Our Stars" and "Midnight Sun", the guys felt like this story as a whole definitely held its own. However, the guys had a few critiques of the film as well, one main point being that Sprouse's portrayal of Will felt a little inaccurate, being that Will was suppose to be suffering from CF. In episode 124 of The Reel-ists Podcast, Oscar and Donnie discuss the film "Donnybrook", starring Jamie Bell, Frank Grillo and Margaret Qualley. While the guys appreciated the film for its brutality and dark theme, the guys were left unsatisfied. Donnie felt that the characters were not developed enough for an audience to really care and empathize for them. Oscar felt that being the film is titled "Donnybrook", we should have recieved more background and insight into this underground fight competition. "Greta" is the film reviewed in episode 125! Oscar and Donnie recap the film and give their reactions along the way. The film itself was indeed thrilling and entertaining, but that didn't stop the guys from giving some criticisms. Probably the main issue Oscar and Donnie have with the film stems from the protagonist Frances, who's decision making is frustrating and unrealistic. However, both agree that Isabelle Huppert and Chloe Grace Moretz gave great performances.
