This week we are bringing you a great unofficial rankings on the back of some very clearly not so great news. In honor of the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman last week we are going to be ranking our favorite Marvel characters as portrayed in the movies. More on Boseman in a minute, let me get through the particulars. I can’t speak for Matt, but I’ll tell you right now I love my list and all the characters on it, but I hate it too. There are some HUGE omissions, simply because I didn’t want to just talk ALL chalk and we only have five roster spots. It’s literally an impossible task to make a Marvel movie nerd like myself pick a top five in characters but we tried.

On Boseman: any time someone dies from cancer it fucking sucks. It’s a real miserable fuck of an illness that eats away at people in the most depressing way, anyone who has watched someone go through it knows that. We discuss it in the episode, but what he was able to do while diagnosed with cancer was nothing short of incredible. To film any movies, period, let alone ones where you’re expected to be in shape to hang on screen with Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and a CGI Hulk while having cancer is something I would’ve told you was impossible up until I found out Boseman did that just a week ago. And it’s not just the fact that he played the most culturally iconic superhero role ever, or the fact that he also has gem roles like Jackie Robinson buried underneath the sexy Marvel stuff.

It’s the visits to the kids in the hospital. The speech he gave at Howard. It’s the fact that he suffered silently all this time at the height of his celebrity and cultural relevance. He bore that burden gracefully, he bore it, well… like a superhero.

It’s just a shit situation all around and I’m really bummed out about it. T’s & P’s to Chadwick’s family. RIP good sir.

It’s Tuesday and that means we got another episode of the FMB Radio Show for everyone fresh out the oven. Focal point of today’s discussion is how we think now is as good, and as sad, a time as any to accept we aren’t going to be getting violent Robbie Lawler back any time soon or possibly ever. That said we run down what Neil Magny did that made his performance so brilliant. Anthony Smith appears to be at this odd point in his career where he just enjoys showing off how much abuse he can take.

Once we get past this lame duck of a card we hop into a real slop mess of a news week. Jon Jones is calling out Stipe and Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar is a free agent. Ray Borg is already unretired… we think. Dillon Danis is paying for Jake Shields rent. Dana White continues doing Dana White things and somewhere amidst all of that Daniel Cormier finally called it quits.

Unofficial rankings episode 12 and we got one that I’m sure will totally be received well by the masses this week. We are in a Sahara desert level drought of MMA which has led us to improvise a bit on the hypotheticals. We had to dig deep in our bag, but we got another slapper of an episode for you this week. Do you miss going to bars with all your friends? Do you miss ordering a Vegas buffets worth of appetizers then shitting on you friend who ordered the app nobody likes? Ya, us too. So that’s exactly what we are ranking this week. Worst appetizers to order at a bar (mostly at a bar). We are supremely confident this will be in no way controversial and everyone will agree with our completely level headed takes. So here we are the worst bar foods to order as appetizers.

FMB Radio Show August 24th and we have yet another slow week in MMA land. Good god the first 15min of this show is a ball washing of the new Batman trailer (it’s sick). We then recap Edgar vs Munhoz and break down who won what rounds. The real exciting bits of this week came by way of Oscar De La Hoya announcing his intent to make a boxing comeback. Dana White responds with what may just end up being the MMA meme of the year. Luke Thomas has jumped ship to CBS, trouble in the water for Brendan Schaub?

This week on unofficial rankings it’s injury week. We are counting down our worst/most iconic/most memorable sports injuries of all time. Not just MMA either we opened up the field. Had to come through a lot of cringeworthy videos to come up with these lists so the least you could do is give them a listen. Plus you’ll get to find out what the legendary double explode is – hint it’s not great.

This week on the FMB Radio we mourn the loss suffered by the daddest man on planet this past Saturday, Daniel Cormier. Stipe now wins the coveted prize of fighting Francis Ngannou again. Aside from the gravity the main event held UFC 252 was a complete dud of a card overall. We talk O’Malley injury conspiracies, a little bit on JDS being old and that’s a wrap.

Elsewhere in the combat sports sphere Jon Jones is vacating the 205 belt, bittersweet for a staunch supporter like myself. And Paige VanZant did the unthinkable, actually signing with BKFC. Was it the right move? (no, no it was not).

MONSTER week of news on the FMB Radio Show this week. We had a Bellator card and Michael Chandler’s final fight on his contract. Does he go to the UFC? Did Val Loureda celebrate too much? The tried and true Derrick Lewis anti-grappling strategy of just getting up proved too much for Alexei Olyneik.

Elsewhere Logan Paul has issued a wrestling challenge to the world. The Platinum Princess is dropping bombs on Instagram. Luke Rockhold is back. Cody Garbrandt picked up his advance to go ticket. And times are tough for employers during Corona and the UFC is no different, cuts have been made.

That’s why this week on Unofficial Rankings we are going to rank our top 3 cartoon characters who would make strong MMA prospects. Caveat: we tried to steer clear from superhero and anime type cartoons as Goku is obviously fucking awesome at fighting already. For the purpose of these rankings we were thinking more along the lines of your typical Saturday morning cartoon characters.

So if you’ve ever wondered if we think Bugs Bunny would be able to hack it in MMA, or you just want to hear our opinion on cartoons in general this is going to be the episode for you.

FMB Radio Show August 4th and it’s a hype train derailment episode. Derrick “Frank Ocean” Brunson turned in his most composed performance to date to turn back undefeated Edmen Shabazyan. Ronda Rousey retired years ago and she still is finding ways to take L’s. JoJo Calderwood reminds us why the safest betting strategy in MMA is to think of what would be the most tragic outcome, then bet on that. Plus, as predicted, Vincente Luque further cements himself as a must watch fighter at welterweight. Or any division for that matter.

In the news Dana White continues to Dana White and refuses to pay the half of the card that fainted pre-fight. Tyron Woodley preemptively pulls the race card for Colby Covington. Paulie Malignaggi gets himself fired for pulling a race card of his own. So we look forward to seeing Paulie vs Artem II in the near future. We advise Paige VanZant against entertaining this Bare Knuckle Fighting offer she may have. And Nic tries, poorly, to describe to Matt the “Assault in the ring” documentary.
