In today's Gospel, Jesus heals a woman who has been bent over for 18 years, and she is able to stand up again. He does this on the Sabbath, and it is by standing up that she is able to participate in the community's rest again. The gospel, like a quilt, offers a powerful illustration of how we are bound together, woven stories with threads of both harm and healing.
RCL Proper 16C: Jeremiah 1:4-10, Psalm 71:1-6, Hebrews 12:18-29, Luke 13:10-17
