Davey from the band Howling Tongues joined me on Revelator #170 to talk about the bands album titled “Boo Hiss”

Co-produced with T.J. Elias (Blackberry Smoke, Walk The Moon, Third Day), and Michael Bragg, the 9-song album was mastered by Greg Calbi (Father John Misty, Alabama Shakes, Bon Iver) at Sterling Sound in NYC. Ryan Smith (AC/DC, Allman Bros, Aerosmith), also at Sterling, mastered the tracks for lacquer.

Davey and talk about the great song titles that also accompany the great songs on the bands sophomore album. Davey and I also cover touring, set list writing and the resurgence of guitar driven rock bands like Rival Sons, Monster Truck and many others.

Howling Tongues formed in the Atlanta, Ga. Area under the original name “The Rebels” before changing the name because of a conflict with a hip hop management company.  I should of asked  if they had any old “The Rebels” T-shirts.

Closing out the interview you’ll hear the lead track  Raw Power in a Red Dress off the album “Boo Hiss”.

 Candiria

Carley Coma the founder and vocalist for the New York based Candiria joined me on Revelator #183 to talk about the bands latest album titled “While You Were Sleeping” the bands first full concept album. Carley talks about the body of work this album represents to him and the band overall.

I describe the album as a cross between “Frank Zappa, Dog fashion Disco and Opeth had a love child born under a bridge then set it out to sea to fish for aquatic life"

 It’s easy to understand why Rolling Stone magazine labeled Candiria as one of the top 10 most important metal bands.

 Carley and I also cover some social issues regarding recent police shootings, religion, and both out near death accidents in 2002 in Ohio.

 The album is now available for preorder. Previously, the band revealed the new song "Mereya," which is currently available as an instant grat track. Listen to "Mereya".
 
While They Were Sleeping will be available in CD and limited edition colored vinyl. The vinyl will be available in two marble color options, with only 250 copies printed in the U.S. for each option. Option #1, "The Wounded Heart," will be available along with the album preorder. Option #2, "The Veil," will be available at select retail outlets. Limited supplies of both options will also be available at select upcoming Candiria shows.

 I was able to catch the guys form Melodime on their way into Nashville to talk about the bands history, music and future plans.

Melodime appear on Revelator #182

 If you're not familiar with Melodime, check out their recent single, "Little Thing Called Love",. You can also get a feel for their breathtaking live performance by watching "Big Wheels" live at State Theatre.

 Melodime, featuring Brad Rhodes (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Sammy Duis (piano, organ, bass), Tyler Duis (drums), and Jon Wiley (bg vocals, guitar, mandolin, dobro), has performed 125+ shows annually throughout the continental United States, sharing the stage with such well-known acts as  Sam Hunt, Jonny Lang, A Thousand Horses and Sister Hazel. The band has also left its mark internationally with performances in Mexico, Canada, and Europe, all while founding and running a charity, 'Now I Play Along Too,' which provides musical instruments and lessons to underprivileged children in the DC area, Florida and Haiti. Lacey Sturm:

Lacey Sturm joins me on Revelator  #154 to talk about her debut solo album Life Screams.

Lacey may be better known from her work as the vocalist for the band Flyleaf.

(Hear interview with Pat Seals from 2015) Lacey and I speak in great detail regarding her recent spoken word segment for TEDX and her book The Reason: How I Discovered a Life Worth Living.

Lacey and I also talk about her passion for music and getting back into the studio to write and created such a powerful album Life Screams. We share some fun family moments as be both have children around the same age. My son wanted to know if she liked cookies of muffins better. The results are in and cookies are the winner.

Lacey has since announced she will be joining OTEP on tour this spring in support of her new album along with s few festival appearances.

The album Life screams was also reviewed by former guest Blackey DeathProof from the band Midnight Mob.
